Default Dwarf 13 Fighter/3Paladin/4 Rogue Intimitank build

This is my first foray into making a tank on DDO. I'm still pretty new, but I've played PnP for a few years now. I don't know what Feats are the best, but I picked the ones that seemed to be good. I went a few levels in Paladin to pick up Fear and Disease Immunity. I picked up a few levels of rogue for Uncanny Dodge and Evasion. And I threw the rest into Fighter for the feats and HP. I tried to pick up the feats to increase my will save, my dwarven war axe damage and threat in general, and also my AC. I'm probably going to be using some sort of mithril chain shirt so I can stack my Dex high with the Dwarven Armor Masteries. I'm not sure if using a tower shield will hinder or help me. Do they work with Uncanny Dodge and Evasion or does one count as "heavey armor"? I really have no clue about the enhancements. Any helpful thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

EDIT: It might be more benificial to only go 12 in fighter and put that extra level in on of the other off classes. I couldn't decide when I threw this build together, so I just stuck fighter in as a filler.

EDIT 2: I'm still new to DDO, so I've got little to no gold. I'm trying to build this on a budget and fill out the stats later with tomes when I can afford them.

EDIT 3: 32 point builds are possible.

First thing I would do is take rogue at first level for the extra skill points.

I thought about that at first too, but it works out better to take them at higher levels. I can put more points into Balance, UMD, and Tumble at a 1 to 1 skill point to rank ratio instead of a bunch of skills that will be useless to me at higher levels like DD and open lock because I'm skill point starved at higher levels. I can put all my points into intimidate with some into jump and balance with my paladin and fighter skills while putting most of my rogue points into what would be cross class skills on the nonrogue levels for maximum effect.

I mean... I'm not going to be a trap monkey by any means.

3 pally levels and 8 cha isnt something I would choose. With that low cha you loose out on the best the pally levels give you, the huge boost to saves.

If this build works out, I'll probably find a+6 cha item. That should help my cha increase my saves a bit. The ability scores at 20 are without tomes and items. They only reflect the 5 points you get at every 4th level and enhancements. I'm just supposing on the build atm though. If I were to switch it around, what stats should I pull to increase my cha score?

The obvious dumpstat for a character with pally splash is wisdom.

I would also reduce INT at least to 12, maybe even 11. You should not have too many problems getting a +2 INT tome before you reach lvl 18, and you can live perfectly fine without CE until then.

You should try to get 20-24 cha at lvl 20 with items and tomes.

I would also consider something else than 13 fighter. The 13th fighter level gives nothing, both rogue and pally have more to offer.

Right about the 13th fighter level. I edited that in my op to reflect it earlier. Pally has spell casting and rogue has sneak attack 3d6 and skills if I were to do either.

I need that 13th point of int for combat expertise, so it's got to stay there unless there's a better feat that I could replace it with. I could probably drop the wisdom and be fine. The -1 modifier from it will hurt until I can get something to up the score though. That's why I didn't do it before. I guess the benifits from the cha increase would outweight it though.

As I said, starting with 11 INT is fine, you qualify for CE with a +2 tome.

Or start with 12 and get a +1 tome.

You really need to squeeze out as much as possible from your build points on a character like this.

Right now, I'm on a budget and unable to afford tomes. Eventually, I will be able to, and I'll put a tome into cha. For now I'll have to keep 13 int to get the combat expertise while I level.

You won't need Combat Expertise as early as you are taking it. Using it at that low of a level will actually do more harm than good. As stated by previous posters you really do need to drop int down in order to squeeze more utility out of it. The dwarf hit to CHA and the paladin class heavy reliance on a decent cha score along with your being limited to a 28 point build will make this a challenging build to pull off correctly.

In keeping with you current wants. I'd suggest you go 12 ftr/6pally/2rogue instead

this will allow you tier 2 prestige feat for fighter tier1 for pally and the evasion you want.

    Move stats to
    16 st
14 dex <--this will allow you to later go TWF with a +3 tome later on if you change your mind about S&B or THF
    14 con
12 int <--add a +1 tome for CE. This should be easily available to you through the turbine points you get for favor
    8 wis
10 cha<--2 pally levels of enhancements +6 item and a +2 tome at some point will give you a respectable 20 on a dwarf 28 point build

Your feats need some help and if you follow this build suggestion make sure you take the force of personality feat to help with will saves.

In reality, you don't need any of the paladin levels or rogue levels to make an effective intimitank. 2 rogue adds the evasion but in the end you miss out on the very nice fighter capstone. For a new player staying pure to one class is always the better solution.

I can use 32 point builds, but what's the real advantage of going 6 levels of pally? Spell casting and Turn Undead? Or am I missing something?

The first tier of the PrE's which are really good. Take your pick.

You're missing a lot actually. the 6th level of paladin gives you access to the first tier of the paladin prestige enhancement along with a bunch of other goodies. better saves, Auras, etc. Check the Compendium for all the benefits http://compendium.ddo.com/wiki/Class:Paladin.

for a 32 point build (the one you had listed was a 28 point)

    16 str
    15 dex
    14 con
    12int
    8 wis
    12 cha

again, I'd still suggest as a newer player that you stay pure fighter. the capstone is very good and you can make a fine dwarven intimitank staying pure.
