Default Draw character in first person

For the most part, it's more advantageous to play in third person. You can see more of what's around you, see that ledge you're trying to grab, etc. But the game looks awesome in first person and sometimes I just want to play that way, except... It's way too disconcerting not to be able to see my weapon swings. How about an option to draw our characters while in first person? It'd need to be turned off by default, of course, but it'd be a really cool thing to be able to run around in a first person view and be able to see my everything (my attacks, my bow, etc.) properly, when I'm in the mood for it. I wouldn't think it'd be at all difficult to add. A lot of MMO's seem to have this as a toggle.

If it requires little effort, I'd like the first person view to be more reminiscent of a FPS, where we can see our weapon and such as well., but not if its going to draw resources that'd be devouted to anything else.

This view is pretty new... previously there was no first person. This particular approach "just make me disappear" was a short cut in developement that a number of players asked for.

Putting your hands in view would be a whole new coding exercise. As a FPS player, it would be nice, but I don't expect we will see it.

If they tried to make it a true FPS style view, something like Oblivion has, it'd be a bit of work, I think. They'd need to make custom visuals and animations for it in order to make everything appear as if it's constantly being held in front of you, the way an FPS does. As much as I'd love to see that, I think at this point, it's probably too much work.

Just allowing the game to draw our character when in first person mode, though, shouldn't be much work at all. No special graphics, no animations... Just let us flip a switch somewhere in options that allows us to see ourselves. While not as awesome as a proper FPS view, this would still be preferable to being invisible to ourselves while in first person. Everquest 2 had this option, and when I used to play that, I'd always go around in first person with draw turned on. When I was in the mood for it, it made the game very immersive.
