    Default Junk on the AH

Ok, I know the AH has its problems as many have stated in other threads. However one thing I do not recall reading is in regards to the JUNK on the AH. I am not talking about mundane weapons or such, because even those have some value.

I am talking about items that you pick up in the quest like the patrol map from TR among other. The AH is cluttered with people trying to take advantage of the noobs out there. Some items sell for 100gp and others for 100k pp. There are many adventures where the items simply disappear (stealthy repo) or are bound and therefor cannot be put on the AH.

Can we please fix these items so that Silly people stop putting them on the AH trying to take advantage of people who may not know any better.

I honestly have not seen this; I guess that is because I rarely go into the collectibles section. Most of the time I am going in there for armor/weapons and don't pay much attention to the rest.

Most of this stuff is in the misc. section. Check it out, it is amusing to see. But, I feel bad for somebody who does not know any better and buys an old patrol map for 100 gp thinking it will get them something.

Will Turbine weigh in on this as well?

If you didn't know what something did - why would you buy it??

laissez faire; 100gp is meaningless anyway; and (in theory) no one that stupid is going to have 100kpp.

While that stuff shouldn't be postable, I think if someone is foolish enough to bid on something without knowing what it is then they have rightly bought a piece of junk. It therefore isn't worth any coding time to fix.

Now when people were posting bugged items on the AH (items from part 1 of the shroud, von1 weapon, etc) that would be usable once and then vanish that was a bug that clearly took advantage of the niave and those players deserved permabans. It was nice when that particular bug was fixed.

I personally have not bought anything like this, but it does clutter the AH. I am more thinking of newer players who may not really look at things. 100gp may not be a lot to most, but for newer players it can be something, of course the numbers vary.

A fool and his money are soon to be parted. Honestly, if 100gp is a lot, why spend it on something that you don't know what it is?

True, for you and me. There are other items on there for much more that can equate to a lot of money. Some people may think they are buying a treasure map or something.

Maybe then this thread can be more of a Public Service Announcement to help the newer players steer clear of those things and to help them out with good advice (don't buy it unles you know what it is)

Hey I bought Gems on the AH when I first started. So what, someoone made a buck on me and I learned they were just for selling to vendors. I didn't realy feel cheated. It's like giving to charity.

Shortly afterwards I started selling quivers for 100gp each on the AH and made some cash that way, hehe.

About a year ago, guildie of mine made 8k plat AHing a Pit Restart Guide... ya know, the one the NPC hands you when you acquire the quest. And that is just awesome.

If they make it so every piece of unneeded fluff vanishes upon completing a dungeon, I'm okay with that. Because really, I'm sick of finding out my packs are full of Xorian Ciphers because people don't listen that only one person needs to loot one...

Not so fussed over 100gp for a patrol map, however the amount of "bloodstones" i see up on the AH for 1,000,000 is insane. And before you jump all over it, im not talking about the +6 seeker bloodstone, im talking about the 100gp gem Bloodstone. To the untrained/inexperienced, they hear tell of this magical bloodstone, must have trinket, and off the go. Obviously they wouldnt have the 1,000,000 to buy one at that price, but cmon folks lets get serious.

What sort of a tosser puts up a 100gp gem and tries to palm it off as something it isnt. I can think of a few ppl that fit that bill.

A friend of mine was thinking about having a scavenger hunt where you had to get certain quest-specific items (Partrol Map, 10 Smugglers Gems, etc...) that didn't bind on acquire or drop when leaving the adventure. If they changed all of these old quests to automatically remove these items, this wouldn't be possible anymore.

It's probably a moot point, as he no longer plays. Still, there may be other people who do this already.

Personally, I'd rather just get better search tools for the AH.

It is touching, though, to see all these people who pick up the torch to help save the foolish among us.

I'd rather they added a text search to the AH before worrying about any of this stuff.
