Petition for more docents & less docent hate

Why have we had no new named docents and yet keep seeing a plethora of new fleshy armament? Is it because they are so much weaker than us?

Seriously, we have the 1 VoN trash docent, the one situationally useful Titan docent, the DoD, and DT. What gives? 7 raids of 9 have no docents, and the two that do are the 2 oldest raids. Further, docents were completely ignored with the start of epic. I'm getting tired of the only useful docent I can wear is DT or DoD.

Personally I'm in two minds about this.

On the one hand, I definitely feel Warforged deserve some love, and docents to go with it.

On the other hand, I don't like the effect on the game of the one really good named docent (the Docent of Defiance) - it pretty much forces any DR-based threat tank to be Warforged, as other races cannot compete because there is nothing even remotely in the same league as the DoD. On the other hand, there's nothing in the same league as the Icy Raiments for slot consolidation on AC-based Warforged. More than most other racial differences, this changes build dynamics. (Edit: As pointed out by Wizzly bear, the Regalia of the Phoenix causes WF nuker sorcs to fall behind fleshie nukers too)



Overall I'd be fine with new named docents, as long as they don't do anything that is simultaneously extremely powerful and inaccessible to fleshies.

So what? Fleshies with evasion wear the Icy, or the DT.

Fleshies without it wear the DT plate.

Give my rogue a robe of defience and I'll start petitioning for more decents :P

I definitely agree with not making super powerful abilities for only one race or class. Regalia of the Phoenix = racism.

Whether or not they're widely used or any good, fleshies got armors in Vision, Hound, Abbot, DQ, and most recently, epic armor.

Personally I have always wondered why the devs just make items non-type specific.

EI. Say I like the effects of the Vulkoorim Dagger but want it on a Longsword instead? Why not let me put a MW Longsword and the Dagger in a stone of change to give the Longsword the effects of the dagger and destroy the dagger in the process?

Same could be done for Armor/Docents. I loot X armor but cant use it cause I'm WF, I toss it and a MW Docent in the Stone of Change and out comes a Docent version of it.

Adding this simple feature would instantly eliminate loot disparity between classess and races.

As a Warforged Monk I feel like I get doubly screwed as there are no where near as many unique/good Handwraps as there are other weapons in the game. Same for docents!

nothing like seeing the named gear in an end loot grab...and seeing a plain ole +5 docent sitting there with all of the unusable armors that get names.. Sure there are a few, but really... I think I can count the named docents on 1 hand.

How about we put a plain old +5 docent in an eldrich device with another armor and let the docent take all of the traits of the armor. I know a lot of wf casters would like to have a docent version of the Regala of the Phoenix.

I can sign this if they programmed it right such that if there is no warforged in the party, there shouldn't be a named docent drop in the chest for anyone. The named docent should be replaced by some other raid loot that's not a docent.

And they should stop making arcane casters healers as they are not. They should make the Artificers class.

Well, it could be worse. You might only be able to wear a +5 docent or even a +1 docent...

But moving right along, I picked this up while reading about the warforged in the DDO Store:

They have less capacity for wisdom, however, and being so different, they often have difficulty connecting with the other races.

So yeah, the humans who create and run DDO:EU have difficulty relating to the warforged and, seeing them as nothing but piles of scrap metal for the junkyard, and timber for the woodshop, often refuse to make them good docents, if any.

Nothing business, just personal. That is just the way it is with Turbine. You'll have to make most of the warforged go on strike before Turbine starts making good or better docents for them.

What, you mean to tell me not even +1 docents were being dropped in epic quests?

Ok, well, why not make it so that if there are no flesh players in the party, no flesh types of armor will drop?

Yeah, it wouldn't work if you did either that or the docent drop change. Ill admit, maybe some players are taking advantage of the warforged by offering ridiculous prices on docents, but I dont see how its a catastrophe yet...just cross your fingers and hope Turbine starts treating the warforged just as equally as the flesh races.

As for the arcane caster healer part...well, im not sure. I guess thats just the way they are.

outstanding idea. I'd even purchase a token from the ddo store (to add as an ingredient in the stone of change ) if it would let me do the above.

So? Necro quests are extremely easy. PuGs just make them look a lot harder than they actually are.
