    Default Turbine Point Buying Confusion

    After many hours of trying various ways of getting the system to accept my Vanilla Mastercard Gift Card I finally succeeded in getting some of those $1 pending charges I keep reading about (four of them to be exact).

    However, I have concerns that the point buying process may still ultimately fail because those four charges have lowered the balance bellow the cost of the 420 point bundle I was trying to buy.

    My question is then, whether the charges will be lifted and then the actual transaction will occur or the other way around. Also, by when (approximately) should I know if it's working?

    Thanks in advance to anyone who maybe able to shed some light on this! ^^

    Default Question about your Gift Card Experience

    Just curious if those $1.00 charges to your gift card have dropped yet. I have had the same experience trying to get an AMEX gift card to work. The only difference is mine still doesn't work and I've racked up no less than $12.00 in single $1.00 temporary charges just trying.

    I've read that they drop in anywhere from 24 hours to 7 days and was hoping you could let me know if yours had yet.

    Also, did you ever get your card to work? I've been back and forth with Turbine and AMEX a few times now and still am not successful. The last call to Turbine the guy told me he was just seeing a "Communication Error" and to try back in a few hours...but that, again will cost me another temporary $1.00.

    The AMEX people told me that everything was good on their side, and that the only difference might be that I need to use the full zip code, plus the 4 digit zip code extension to get the transaction through...though Turbine account management won't allow for that and just returns an error.

    I didn't imagine that this would be so difficult.

    When a card is used for points purchases, it is automatically added to the Turbine system, which adds the potential for re-occurring billing. Some pre-paid card companies will not allow their cards to be added to a system where they can be charged on a re-occurring basis (subscription fees).

    If this is the case, or if the card simply isn't working via the website (which can be caused for multiple reasons) then you can call or fax the card details and the Account Management department and they can manually process the charge without adding the card to the system. Phone information is in my signature. If you want to fax, you can PM me or email to request the information.

    Please note that the (approximately) $1.00 USD authorization holds should be released within a few business days at the most. We request the authorizations to confirm the card is valid, but we do not receive the funds and cannot release them. If the funds are not released within a week, I strongly suggest you contact the card company regarding the holds.

    I have to think that this is my problem, as now I see that AMEX Gift Cards cannot be utilized for recurring billing charges. I will try and call support again to have them enter the card manually off of the system.

    I will update this and my other post if that is the case with the solution.

    Sadly, my mastercard gift card got zinged with a surprise 2.50 inactivity charge today and now even if the $1.00 do lift and it goes through nicely it wont of been fast enough to use this gift card. *sigh* I'll have to come up with a plan B.

    Okay so I expected the points to not go through since the card got charged a surprise monthly service fee and dropped bellow the balance required, but the 1.00ish charges have not been released. I still have five $1.07 (Canadian) charges sitting on the card and it has been just over a week now. If anyone has a suggestion I'd really appreciate it?

    EDIT: After 8 days they were finally dropped.
