    ............... but:

because Gozer's temple swung both ways and that by crossing the streams, the Ghostbusters were able to create enough force to close the door on Gozer and its control.....

.... so isn't crossing the streams a good thing, so long as you a wizard and a sorcerer who swings both ways?

    In a word, no.

I'm not a DnD wizard (couldn't help the pun), but in no way can I see any benefit of multiclassing a Wiz & Sorc. The small boost in sp at the start is a tiny bonus totally off-set by the negatives: loss of capstone, lack of any synergy (i.e. insightful reflexs/evasion with Wiz/Rog), and delay spells by one level.

Bottom line, you won't (really) cast faster, have more spell points or get double sp from items. Therefore, why even bother?

    NO.

    NONONONONONO.

    No.

Sorc and Wizard DO NOT MIX in any way shape or form. Not 1/19 Sorc/Wiz, 19/1 Sorc/Wiz or any mix thereof.

For one thing, to be an effective Wizard you need high Intelligence. To be an effective Sorcerer you need high Charisma.

If you have max Charisma and max Intelligence your other stats (most importantly Con) make you useless. The low hitpoints alone would make your character incredibly frustrating to play.

If you had moderate Int, Cha and Con, your spellcasting would suffer horribly and you would run out of SP continuously. YES even if you were half/25%/75%/99% Sorc.

    IN ADDITION

You limit the spells you have. If you have 10 levels of Wizard, you can only use level 5 Wizard spells. If you have level 10 Sorcerer, you can only have level 5 Sorcerer spells. That means NO spells higher than level 5 FOR EITHER CLASS.

Also, all of your spells that are "D6 fire damage per caster level" (or whatever) are for the class type you took that spell in. So if you're a 10/10 Wiz/Sorc, you do NOT have 20 caster levels in ANY OF YOUR SPELLS.

    FURTHERMORE

If you decide to "splash" one or the other class so you get the "benefits" of that class on all your spells, YOU WON'T. If you go Sorc for the faster casting, you ONLY get it on your Sorc spells. If you go Wizard so you can swap spells you ONLY get to swap your Wizard spells. This has been covered by other posters above.

DON'T MULTICLASS WIZARD AND SORC. It just doesn't work. It's not good for you. It's like meth, except it's not addictive, it's tremendously frustrating and heartbreaking.

But hey, like they say, "Play what you want."
"These fauchards have gone too far!"

Having Wizard and Sorcerer on the same character is automatic grounds for refusal in any PUG I lead, and grounds for me dropping any group I am in when I see you there with me.

It tells me "this guy has no idea how the game works, AND he does not listen to advice, no matter how well-intentioned."

Wizard 19 / Bard 1 might have a purpose. Maybe you wanted UMD skill or Cure Light Wounds or Wand access.

Wizard 19 / Cleric 1? I can see it happening... You can use nearly any wand in the game.

But Wizard 19 / Sorcerer 1? No good can come of it. None. If you absolutely want Bluff as a class skill, take a level of rogue, just so you won't be a pariah.

Just don't. That class combo will make you less popular in groups than an Amway salesman with leprosy.

A Drow Barbarian 20 will get less grief and be more effective. Seriously.

Your better off put any extra skill points you have into Con instead of Cha on a wizard. Always.
