    Default 34 point paladin

So I'm thinking my drow defender pally is just a gimp. Sure, he can take a lot of punishment, but he just can't dish it out.

I'm thinking of reincarnating him as a 34 point human TWF pally.

    something along the lines of

    str 15
    dex 16
    con 12
    int 8
    wis 10
    cha 16

goals: divine might IV if I can score a +4 tome, capstone, intimidate and UMD (even at cross class, still useful!) power attack, toughness, full TWF line, improved crit.. leaves me with two feats.. I want to say khopesh and extend spell.. should I hit OTWF instead of extend? or keep extend, take otwf and use scimitars?

Yes, I know some people will say dump the 2 points of wis, but I want to be able to cast spells as I level up, not have to wait for a +3 wis item to cast level 1 spells.

I know a lot of people like this kind of build.. how many people have done the TWF full pally thing have useful advice?

Edit: a 30 point drow loses a feat, but can have actually 2 more attribute points to play with due to the cost of raising dex and cha to 16 (both non-negotiable) I can put them into STR to make up for human adaptability. If I go rapier... hmm, probably not worth it.

Or for DM put two ability points into Char and get a +2 tome.

I think you only need a 17 dex to get GTWF so maybe you could drop dex to 15 (assuming you can get a +2 dex tome) and put that point into con, which along with a human adaptability will give you 14+2 tome +6 item = 22 con. If you're going to tank you're going to need the HP.

Actually since he is human, dropping 1 point from Dex will free up 2 build points which would allow him to hit 14 Con without the adaptability point. But then he did say:

If these are really non negotiable then the stats you have posted are the best you are going to do. Dont know what you expect us to say when you completely tell us 4 stats are off limits to comment.

Perhaps I should have said nearly non-negotiable? My chances of getting a +2 dex tome in the time it takes me to need one are minimal, so I'm assuming I'll only have a +1 to work with. Taking a point off CHA would lower my str by a point, assuming I want DM IV eventually, and I do, and I used a level up point there. Could I get one eventually? Sure, but that would mean grinding out loot for some unknown length of time until I could afford one. I might get super lucky and score one while I'm getting my final level and a half to 20 before I reincarnate... If so, bonus! But that isn't how I want to spend my in-game hours.

Also consider +2 tomes have a minimum level of 7... which is a level after I'd need it. It pushes all the interesting feats down 3 levels, which means less fun leveling up.

I would check the number of SP you get (ie 5 SP at lvl4 with Wis 10).

I went 8 Wis and added a +1 tome and did not have too many issues (considering how quickly you level 4-7).

That is a good question... my defender pally started with 14 wis and has trouble running out of SP for buffs on longer quests. I took the archivist's necklace, which helps a little, and have an SP item to switch out to before I shrine so I can cast some buffs, but I still run out of SP long before I run out of quest just keeping divine favor and zeal up.

The reason I'd go for the racial enhancement in Con is because it unlocks the third racial toughness enhancement. I will admit, however, that I didn't read it carefully enough to see that the con was off-limits.

So.. DDO store has a +2 dex tome for sale.. lucky me, I have plenty of VIP TP saved up.

Now the question is.. if I start with 15 dex, and eat up a tome at level 7, can I then switch out whatever feat I take at level 6 with ITWF? Or does it recognize that my dex wasn't high enough at level 6?

If I can't take ITWF until 9, then imp crit until 12, and GTWF until 15.. that's a lot of levels I'm not getting my full combat potential. Admittedly I'll have power attack the whole time.. but that's only useful when I'm not doing quests high enough over my level that things are hard to hit. Could take OTWF instead?

    Here's my thinking:
    1 khopesh, twf
    3 toughness
    6 PA
    9 ITWF
    12 Imp Crit: slash
    15 GTWF
    18 Extend

But that'll suck at level 6-8 with no ITWF, suck at level 9-11 with no imp crit, and suck at 12-14 with no GTWF.

Fortunately, I don't have as much time to play as I'd like, so I have a bit before my character hits 20 and I start this ball rolling.

Yes you can change race when you TR. That's why he said he's going from Drow to 34 Human.
