    Default How many Shroud LFMs?

How many Shroud LFMs do you think there will be up at one time in the next hour or two? I'm expecting to see 5 when I login now, and probably 10 at some point tonight.

    Anyone wanna place bets?

I know that I will be running it on all of my shroud ready toons.

Then....my original 28-pt. ranger will get reincarnated into a dwarf ranger. Sigh....the grind begins.

I suspect there will be a bunch at first, until everyone realizes they beefed up harry so much that it's now impossible to beat him by normal means. I mean seriously, you really don't think they spent over two weeks just to fix a problem with teleporting between areas within the shroud.

    Haha.

Yeah, I'm gonna go in on my 3 flagged characters and hope that I finally get that Shard of Power on my ranger (6 runs and counting without).

I'll probably get denied out of all shroud groups for the fact I have never been in the Shroud yet.

Just join a pug and keep your mouth shut. Here is what you do......

Part One - keep quiet and follow the others - bring a greater construct bane weapon is possible.
Part Two - Do what you are told - if you keep quiet, no one will make you pull and you can get wall duty, easy
Part Three - Now is when you might get busted - either get a shroud puzzle solver or get help with your puzzle - don't bust up any crystals and don't run water to places that haven't solved their puzzles - alternatively, get some water and just run big circles, no one will know.
Part Four - If you are dps, go beat on the big red dude (from behind)
Part - Part Five - if you are dps, beat on the big red dude (from behind)

Decline the ddoor and get your first completion. Tip the clerics and walk away.

Seriously, don't put water in the fountainheads if the puzzle is not complete, don't shoot crystals unless told to, and hit stuff when you are told to hit stuff and you will be golden.

Firstly, Aranticus wrote up a very good thread with a title something like, "Help! Am I raid ready!?" Or something to that effect, which details responsibilities and equipment, with minimal spoilers, for the various raids.

Second, at this point, I seriously doubt you'd get kicked from a group of you told them that it was your first time--the Shroud is easy.

The only 3 really important points, on which Mav touched, are:
    1) In part 2, make sure you orient yourself on the map (starts out black with party members' dots elsewhere) and be sure not to run to the north central area. If you're concerned that you may do so by accident, just don't move until you see someone to follow back to the group.

    2) In part 3, be sure to let people know where you are if you can't do you puzzle and do not put water in a fountain if the puzzle for that room has not been solved yet. Useful ways to identify your position are: 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 or circle (puzzle dimensions) at either [compass point] or [clock position].

    3) In part 4, do not click on the altar or portal at the end (near the shrine) unless told to do so.

If you're really worried, just wait until you're inside the quest before mentioning that you haven't run it before.

Oh, weapon-wise (if you're not a caster/healer/buffer), try to find a decent weapon with some combination of Holy/Pure Good/Flametouched and Silver/Transmuting to bypass the DR on the boss.

I may actually skip the Shroud for the first day or two it's back, or maybe just run it at non-peak hours. I'm sure it's going to be laggy as hell and I don't want or need that frustration.

Awesome guide for first timers in Shroud.

    I especially like part 2.

I will add that if you die in part 4 don't ask where you are as it will be a sure give-a-way! Just wait until the party is done and someone will rez you...

Personally, I like to tell people I am doing something for the first time. Many group leaders are glad to bring along one or two newbs and explain what is going on. The ones who are jerks and don't want any first timers - well you are better off not going with them is all I will say...

Good guide, bad tone. Any group that won't take a first timer on a normal shroud run should be avoided. Chances are you'll fail at part 2 due to poor leadership in a group like that. Join a shroud run, tell everyone that it's your first time, they will help you and you will have a great time, if they boot you just move on to the next one that comes up. T

I sent a tell to a guy putting a run together, he let me join. I had been playing with the puzzle solvers and was put on a 4x4 and had it done in seconds.

It was fun and pulled what I needed to make my green steel d.axe.

Thanks for the guide, it was very helpful.

    Strake,
maybe you ain't been PUGing enough lately. I joined shroud last night posted by a solid player, with a mix of about half known players and half unknowns(to me anyway). We almost failed in pt3 and pt5 (would have had trouble on pt4 if Harry didn't bug). We had a locked 5x5 with the wall up and it made 3 rounds before we got it solved and to be honest I wasn't sure we'd get it solved. In tells with the leader, we both agreed there was plenty of DPS but a significant amount of players we simply unfamiliar with how to do the various parts. One player didn't even realize there were underwater chests in pt3. I think, given the huge influx of new and returning players this is going to be a common occurence, as many folks are finally shroud ready or close. You don't run in full on "pick up" PUGs much so you probably don't even remember what the wall looks like. ;p

*edit* everyone has to get a few runs under their belt before they can "know" the shroud, there are a lot "first or second timers" out there now, and their numbers are not decreasing...

I have no clue. Does someone know? I've done at least a couple of dozen Shrouds (relatively few but still) and never heard the words Wall Duty. Beating on the portals in part 1 is sometimes called attacking walls or something similar, but the post referred to Wall Duty as something applying to part 2.

I read it to be "holding up a wall" as in a fifth wheel kind of thing.

In part 2 as long as you have all four mobs covered there is normally room for one or two 'spare' tanks.

Just NEVER assume the Caster knows what 'peel off and take care of the crystal' means or you may find him standing around watching the respawns and everyone else wondering who to blame .
