I heard of a paladin with 97 AC and can avoid most hits in Epics. How is this 97 AC even obtained?

+1 Profane is from Litany of the Dead.
97 may be achievable on a Dex based Elven Paladin with one or two levels of monk and fully geared out.
I don't feel like running the numbers though to verify that.

I'm planning to TR my fighter as a dwarf paladin very similar to this build. My main concern is the changes in TWF. Is there enough knowledge of the update to know whether TWF is still the way to go, or is THF better now because DAs will have glancing blows and will be affected by the THF line of feats?
So I am trying to put together a raiding group in my PD guild, and am thinking about trying this build out. I know very little about raiding as I only play PD and it is difficult to put together a raid group, is this build going to be doable for me with no twinking/little gear grinding to tank the lower raids? (I'm talking VON, Titan, DQ etc. not lvl 20 stuff.) Thanks in advance for the input.
Greetings. OK, bear with me people. I'm new to the forum and only a casual player. I have a 14 Dwarf Paladin which is currently a 2HF Tank. He was my first char, is 28 points, and since I was just checking out the game I did not customize his build. I've done lots of searching and reading on these forums and I really like the build shown here. I plan to greater reincarnate and try it out.
I have a few questions first.
1. If I go with a 18Paladin/2Fighter do I need a GR+1 or a GR+3? Also when do I take each level keeping in mind the feats and enchancements I need to choose with this build? I have searched all over and cannot seem to find an answer on this. Most likely this is because it's common sense to everyone but me, still I'd like your help clearing it up.
2. Is there a version of this build that shows when to take each feat and enhancement? Yes I am asking for someone to hold my hand as I re-level this char. Like I said I am a casual player and I do not understand the game mechanics enough to know when to take a level of fighter in order to get a certain feat or whatever. Thus my first question above.
Perhaps I should also mention I ate a +2 to all stats tome in the past in case it impacts this build.
I anyone can point me to a link that answers these questions please do so. I have searched and read a lot without success.
Thanks in advance for yout time, patience, and assistance.
I have a level 12 version of this build atm...so, I am not an expert on the build itself.
If you are going to reincarnate you would want to GR to get 32 point build. You could also add the fighter levels later and modify accordingly, or wait until 20 and TR to get 34 point build and the paly TR bonuses. Your tomes will remain intact if you GR but will be erased if you TR.
You can use the builder to plan out your character which takes pressure off and is quite helpful.

I took toughness early and the TWF series early as well as GTWF. I have not taken combat expertise or dodge yet so my ac is less than it could otherwise be.
One thing that is different now is that Intimidate is a paly skill so that you will have more skill points to use even if you max intim.
Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for the feedback. I am definitely doing a GR to get a 32pt build. What I don't understand about how GR works is this. If I want to go 2 fighter levels will a GR+1 work for that or does it require a GR+3? Let's say I followed this guide and did F1,P2-3,F4, P5+. Does a GR+1 let me take those two fighter levels anytime I want them? Or does it only let me switch classes one time? I can't seem to find a clear answer on that.
That is a good point about the Pally Intimidate change. I suppose it might be possible to skip taking Fighter at level 1 now and wait until later. I assume the early fighter was for intimidate? Your thoughts?
Off to play with this builder thingie.
Thanks for the help!
The original reason for taking Fighter at level 1 was to max out Intimidate, so now it really doesn't matter when you take them. If I were doing it now, I would probably take my first Fighter level at level 5(After you've gotten Divine Favor as a Paladin), then I might save the last one for one of my last few levels, perhaps even level 20. For feats, here's one possible level breakdown you could do:
(1) - Two Weapon Fighting
(3) - Metamagic: Extend
(5-Fighter) - Power Attack
(6) - Improved Two Weapon Fighting
(9) - Toughness
(12) - Greater Two Weapon Fighting
(15) - Combat Expertise
(18) - <Improved Trip or Stunning Blow>
(20-Fighter) - Dodge
You can really put the last fighter level at any point, but I saved it for last to get DoSIII and Zeal faster. As for the enhancements, I usually change those around frequently while leveling, so just reset them ever level or two to see what you can get.

Hey there. I love digging up old threads so here i go
I am following this build pretty closely right now. Im loving it, but im wondering just what i miss out on if I drop the fighter splash and remain pure pally.
Thinking about re specing to pure after I tr and cap as I doubt intimidate will stay very usefull for me. My plan would be to upgrade self healing somewhat to increase self sufficiency.
Originally the fighter split was giving Tower Shield Profiency, 2 Feats, Intimidate as a Class Skill and Haste Boost for more Damage.
However Pallys have Intim as a Class Skill now and Since there are no Epic Tower Shields the only difference would be the Damage Reduction of the Shield. There is also a good Tower Shield that grants Tower Shield Profiency.
You will lose the fighter haste boost, but pure pally would probably still be an DPS increase because of the awesome capstone.
The loss of two Feats hurt but one can drop Extend and Dodge.
Personally I would prefer pure Pally, but both choices have their own benefits.
regarding the seld healing:
Human would be a nice Race for that because of the healing Amplification Enchantements and the Feat (quicken or maximize are handy for self healing).

Thanks for the info. **** losing 2 feats is harsh, I was pretty sure i was going to lose 1, swap dodge for maximise and drop extend. Ive also been drooling over the Leviks defender since reading this build, so I think Ill keep the fighter splash. I had no idea thats where the shield profiency came from.
Would a dwarf still get acceptable healing with maximise on do you think? I know human is better for self heals but I just love running around with Dwarven axes.
To a certain extend self healing is always possible for a paladin.
Going human makes it a lot easier though.
Cure Serious heals about 30.5 HP.
Lets say you can afford the first 3 healing enchantements (+30%) and have a superior Ador 4 Klickie (+75%)
This would mean ca. 69.4 HP per Cure Serious.
Thats already useful.
You can also increase this with healing amp, but its not always easy to fit this into an AC build. Gaunlets of the claw are great but also hard to get.
Dragontouched Plate is easier to get but there are better armors for AC. Leviks Bracers give 20% but you might want that slot for the bracer from the new pack with Dodge +2 and Toughness...
Or add Maximize and double it.
Also you would nee the Feat Quicken or a high Concentration to heal in Combat (I prefer Quicken because its more reliable but a Feat is a Feat...)
So you will be able to heal yourself but only to a certain extend. More self healing is hard to fit in an AC build. On the other Hand you will need less Healing so i guess it will be fine.
