That's pretty much the best use for TR summed up. It seems like it's mostly for folks that already have a bunch of capped characters, or only play ONE character at a time, got capped and were already thinking of making a new guy to play...

Or for the insane alt-aholics that ran out of slots, dont' want to buy more, and want more alts. You know who you are.

as someone has stated already not everyone has time or is able to go to lammania so they might not know , so they really dont need a snobbish remark like this one when they ask a question just a simple answer would've worked just fine

I'll answer any way I deem appropriate, if you take offense, find your own answers. You can also read the constant updates and messages from the devs via the dev tracker, and you'd know just as much, by spending oh about 2 minutes of your time.

I've also been contemplating True Reincarnate. But honestly, what's holding me back is the "physical size increase!" I don't want to look like some misshapen mutant, all out of proportion with everyone else. Is the increase in size very noticeable??

OK, I did the TR thing on Lamannia and here’s all the details I can give you from memory:

- Supposedly your height increases. No, you’re not going to turn into Jeet’s superego. In fact, you will have trouble noticing it.

- You get the little angel wings graphic surrounding your name. Look at the word “Unlimited” at the top of the page to get an idea of what I’m talking about.

- Every time you enter an area you get a teleportation effect on your character

- You lose extra bank/inventory slots. All the stuff in your bank goes into the reincarnation vault. And unless something changed, all the stuff in your inventory stays in your inventory but gets dropped off into the overflow inventory space. So, put your high level gear into the bank and move all your consumables to other characters.

- You can only make withdrawals from the reincarnation bank.

- You lose Inherent bonuses to attributes. (The bonuses from eating a tome.) But you do not lose tomes in your inventory.

- When you return you will land on Korthos island as a level 1 character. No, Veteran status does NOT apply to TR'ed characters.

- All your first time XP bonuses in quests return.

- Your favor resets to zero. However you are free to reacquire favor and earn TP's for it.

- For a 34 point build you will have to earn a cumulative 5% more XP per level. For 36pt builds it’s 10% per level. So, while low levels are easy, high levels are going to hurt.

- There are reports that reincarnating a guild leader is buggy. IMO any guild leader should transfer leadership to one of his alts BEFORE reincarnating.

I'm assuming they did not change the past life feats from their relatively sad state. Did they at least make them free to grab instead of taking up one of our precious few feat slots? All the update notes said was "unlocked", so I have assumed it is a no...

You still have a choice of purchasable feats. Probably the only one that will be an absolute “Must HAVE!!” for the class you have to reincarnate from is the monk feat. It’s a passive increase to the amount of damage your fists do.

However, you ALSO get free passive feats for each reincarnation. The passive feats stack up to 3 time. However you can only TR twice for the time being. (ex. You reincarnate your level 20 monk as a monk. You get the passive monk past life feat that grants +1 damage and you have the option of picking up the monk purchasable feat at level 3.)

The list of past life feats are all over the forums so I won’t repost them here. However, the devs are REALLY wanting to create a ginormous hamster wheel for us. So, remember when you’re all burnt out on the TR treadmill and want to quit DDO - it’s all part of the developers plan!

So I did TR on my ranger, Stratonike, last night and unless the XP penalty is on a sliding scale, it's not as big of a jump as I thought I read (something like 1.6x normal). It took me a little over 5% more to get to 3rd level last night.

The size difference is not noticeable to me at all, but I reincarnated as a halfling. Is it possible that the size increase is bugged?

I have to say it's kind of fun to be starting all over again. I may change my mind when I hit 9th level, however, and can't find a group, however!

Having all of your stuff stored in that exit-only bank is pretty nice, I must say, as you can just grab stuff out of there as you need it. One little bonus is that the Phiarlan's pendant of time has no ML. I'm the fastest 3rd level halfling zipping around the harbor right now!

the higher you get in levels the more xp will you need

like from 1 to 2 its 5% more xp, from 18 to 19 its 60% more xp (dunno the exact number, just showing how it works)

and in total that adds up to ~1,6times the xp then normal

the bulk of it is in the mid and late teens. You know when you normally hit lvl 15, and you're just now getting over that 1 million total experience milestone? well a regular character would only need 900k more to cap. This is where a TR'ed character will start feeling the hurt; as you'll need almost a million more on top of that.

Since your favor gets reset I would have thought that this item would be destroyed when the TR happened.
