I have been playing D&D in one form or another for over 30 years. I usually play casters of some kind. I was completely befuddled when I started making a career plan for my current wizard. I have never seen a limitation on spell casting feats for the bonus feat selection. Also, I find this inconsistent with the treatment of Fighters, who also have bonus feat selection. If one chooses a fighter, there are a great many feats that can be taken as bonus feats that are also available to other classes as normal feats. This was not done with Wizards. Wizards are forced to only take Metamagic feats as their bonus feat. This is incredibly limiting on the profession and inconsistent with the basic PnP rules the game was to imitate. Originally I was given to understand that DDO was supposed to be completely in sync with the PnP rules, as much as was possible in a computer environment. That either was never true in any capacity or it was tossed out as a policy for some reason. However, I would like to see an expansion on the feats available for bonus feat selection by wizards.
This is the current list of what may be selected:
1) Empower Spell
2) Enlarge Spell
3) Eschew Materials
4) Extend Spell
5)Heighten Spell
6) Maximize Spell
7) Quicken Spell
I would like to see added to this list:
1) Combat Casting
2) Greater Spell Penetration
3) Greater Spell Focus
4) Improved Mental Toughness
5) Mental Toughness
6) Mobile Spell Casting
7) Spell Focus
8) Spell Penetration
