    Default Dispelled/Broken Summon AI.

This may have been thought of or posted before but since I havent seen anything recent on the matter I thought I would bring it to light here.

Currently when a Summoned monster is broken by a save or dispelled it becomes hostile to the summoner(and by extension, his party) only. What Im suggesting is that the broken summon becomes hostile to all. Simmilar to the AI that many mobs in quests such as the Diseased Wildmen in Genesis Point, or the Wildmen Prisoners on Bring me the Head of Gola Fan! have. This would make summons a little better around mobs who can dispell or have anti-magic fields. It would also make Summon Undead a bit more useful since they tend to make their save fairly quickly most of the time making them more of a threat than anything.

Your suggestion implies that summoning is useful at all. I don't care, make summoning immune to dispell. It still isn't worth having.

(And if your party, by them time it hits 20, can't kill an extra cr 9... oh boy)

If you don't find summons useful you're using them wrong.

You missed my point completely, its not a question of whether or not the party can destroy the summon.

    Summon have 1 use:
Managing agro. You would only use them if your soloing, to split agro away from you, or to distract enemies if your stealthing.

Its hard not to use summon's correctly. They simply don't do much.

    Thumbs up

Our group loves summoned pets! Our clerics lvl 5 Earth Elemental has happily 'holding'/CCing level 11 giants giving us auto-crits and even tanking a couple of lvl 8 to 10 mobs at a time while we've been busy on casters. He has even been 'holding' Wraiths!

We only play with the four of us generally and recently have been rarely going anywhere without him He certainly doesnt contribute a huge amount of dmg, but he does seem to draw aggro from the squishies which also helps.

As the Pally in the group I've noticed mobs occasionally running past me (despite an intim of 21+ at lvl 10) and taking dmg from my +5 great axe simply to attack the elemental pet...
PS: As to the OPs post (on topic!?) I dont know how this would be coded - do the mobs in the aforementioned areas also aggro players? A random aggro system would work I spose but you can imagine their main 'hate' would be for the caster who forced them into our plane/existance...

I was thinking more along the lines of confusion.
