    Exclamation 3 Wiz/1 Clr : Mistake?

Ok, I got so happy when I saw that I could level up. I went to level up and decided to multiclass into a Cleric. So I did, and bought 200 small candles to use my Cure Light Wounds Spell and found out I couldn't do the spell.

It said at the top 'Your ability score is too low'. Any help or did I really mess it up?

I really want this to work out for me and any help is welcomed. Thanks. =]

to cast lvl1 spells as cleric, you need at least 11 wisdom

as you are just lvl4, id say reroll and stay pure

never multiclass for the sake of multiclassing, it needs to be planned carefully. that cleric level does nothing for you actually. would be cheaper to just buy a stack of cure potions

Ok thanks. If I got items with +1 Wisdom, would that help?

And what do you mean by 'reroll'?

    (Sorry, got a newb here)

In about 99% of cases, if you have already rolled up a character, don't multiclass it. For the best results, a multi-class character should be planned out completely before you get to the character creation screen. If you don't, it is very easy to end up hurting your character's potential.

Edit: Oh, and reroll means delete the character and start over. At low levels, this usually isn't a huge deal, but it gets much harder the higher level your character gains.

Reroll means delete and start again. It comes from the D&D term for what happens when you die...

Wiz & Cleric are generally incompatible, I tend to agree it won't do you much good to have that cleric level.

    Ok ='[

Thanks guys, didn't know it would be this bad.

What would be a fairly good muticlass? I wanna stay Wiz, but, I wanna do something more.

Wizards are generally best pure. Same with sorcs. There are some BattleWiz builds out there (Wiz/Ftr types) but they aren't basic builds, they are gear intensive, and while they might be fun to play they are more self buffed weakish fighters than wizards.

The problem is almost anything you add takes away more than it gives you.

The only exception to this is Rogue. A 2Rogue/18 Wiz can be a lot of fun. They are almost as powerful as a full Wiz, have full rogue skills, evasion, and UMD. Look around for a build if you are interested in that. You ALWAYS start that with a rogue level, then some wiz, then another rogue around 8-12, then back to wiz for the rest. If they happen to be WF they are also self healing, very survivable.

As a warning, I have a 6 Clr/7 Wiz. I have been rejected countless times when PUGging due to the fact that

    a) I can't heal for nuts - even though I have a BtA Greater Pot dagger at lower levels, Healing emp and enhs to heals - you get to see your pure-classed Clrs dish out Heal and Cure Crit, but you'd have to settle for CLW with item boosts.
    b) I can't DPS for nuts - even though I have a BtA Greater Pot dagger at lower levels - you get to see your pure-classed Wizs dish out Wall of Fire and Frost Lance, but you'd have to settle for Magic Missile, Web and Scorching Ray.
    c) I can't raise/resurrect - IMHO its not really a problem on low level quests. I think of it as an "insurance" rather than being pessimistic and requiring the raise/resurrect spell. I've been dropped and declined from groups so many times because of the fact that I can't raise/resurrect (75% chance on a raise scroll isn't good enough - either that or it was a really bad day)

    The perks are very poor:

    a) When you're out of mana, you can change into your Full Plate with shield and mace and hurt the mobs a little - if you can hit them that is.
    b) Being Clr/Wiz you can take advantage of spells that are available to clerics at a lower level than wizards, freeing up some spell slots.

Still, its not impossible to play - just that its going to be very, very, very, very tough at lower levels, and even more so on higher levels, I expect.
    - I've been to so many raids, but I wouldn't call myself a vet, since I have yet to try out different strategies, tactics and classes in raids.
    - Main in sig, alts: Frostiee, Aliciae, Amandae

I'm pretty sure it means take all the stuff off of your character. Delete your character. Start over with a new character. Unless there really is a re-roll function which I haven't noticed...

If you want to play a healing wizard, might I recommend a halfling dragonmarked wizard. They are quite fun. Max INT (18), some in con (14), some in str or dex. Take dragonmark feats, and heal away.

I have one that's level 12 on Sarlona, it's quite nice.
