    Default fighter tanks in general

From looking at the builds and all the Gear require for builds it seems to me that. It is Like 10 times easyer to create a Decent Dps warrior than it is to make a effective tank. Least from a Semi new players Perspective who doesn't Have raids on farm for the 20+th time which all the builds i se are built around . Course alot of this mighthave to do with Being on Orion where there realy is not to many people to group with at higher levels and a Very low population of Ptp people. )
    Any thoughts?

Building a tank just takes a little more careful planning and feat selection whereas a plain old DPS machine can emerge from almost any normal progression of a fighter build.

I think the reason so many DPS warriors are running around is simply preference over the tank.

Most want to be leading the kill count, not the guy who takes very little damage.
(I hate the kill count. They should remove it as it skews the game by only providing arbitrary information about who's delivering the final blow)

The truth is, in most quests unless there is a difficult end boss you don't really need a 70+ AC tank. Sure it's nice to have one and they can soak up a lot of aggro and damage but I think there is a general preference to zerging max DPS.

Both builds can be equipment intensive or not. If you want max DPS expect to grind a lot, same thing if you want max AC.

Bottom line= Tanks require planning and patience
DPS Machines= takes no planning. no patience, and are the typical zergers

i beg to differ. dps machines with no planning are just meh. can deal damage but soak a ton of damage as well. without a babysitter, these "dps machines" will not be dpsing but rather turn into a soul stone. truely great dps machines requires a lot of planning as well
If you want to know why...

No, that's not the bottom line at all. The REAL bottom line is that tanks aren't needed in ANY quest, and they're only beneficial in about 5 quests, while DPS are needed in every single quest in the game.

Meh I could say the same thing about clerics, bards, and casters. I also think the statement applies more to the good players then the average ones. A decent tank in an average group can be very helpful. However any tank build should have viable dps to go along with tanking abilities otherwise they are pretty much a pile on.
