Couple of Q's on weapons

I'm currently a lvl 4 rogue. I'm somewhat of a slow leveler so between lvls 4-8 what would be a good collection of weapons to have at ready in my backpack? I figure I should be wielding holy backstabbing weapons for all around slayings, but should I pickup any particular bane weapons? I hang out at the AH a lot and sometimes come across good deals on giant, undead and dragon bane weapons, are they worth investing in at this time?

I also notice good deals on many finesseable weapons I'm not proficient at, but would weapon finesse make up for the hit penalty?

I Don't have a good general answer for you, but to answer a few more specific things:

If you're TWF, be aware that backstabbing "crosses hands". It will make all your hits get the backstab bonus, not just the one with the enahncement on it.

Undead and giant bane should be worthwhile, there's plenty of both through those levels. Dragons really won't be much of a worry, only 4 you actually need fight (one raid boss, 3 in a flagging quest), and those will be a bit later. There's two more as an optional that's hardly ever done in a level 16 quest.

At your level range I would be sure to carry the best blunt weapon you can find. You will be dealing with a lot of undead at that range and skeletons take reduced damage from everything except blunt weapons. For that matter you will also need to carry a ghost touch weapon for the incorporeal undead you will be coming across. Your undead beaters should ideally be holy, pure good, or undead bane if possible.

Greater bane weapons are not something I would generally worry about. There will be times in raid situations where having that extra oomph will really help but for most creatures in your level range it is not worth hunting for them. If you happen to loot a greater bane weapon I'd definitely hang onto it for now and see if it becomes something you want to take out of the bank for some quest chains.

You might also want to start carrying an Everbright weapon for dealing with rust monsters since you will be seeing some of them soon. If you find a blunt one you can also use it as your slime/ooze beater.

Other than that I'd suggest trying the Weapon Comparison Tool to figure out what will work best for your build.

As for your question on the Finesse weapons I can't really comment. It really depends on the build. This is an excellent case where the Weapon Comparison Tool makes crunching the numbers easier than asking for feedback since you can input all the specifics yourself to determine the best course of action. I will note, however, that if you have a high-dex build you should consider taking the feat Weapon Finesse anyways.
