Thumbs down Level 1 characters no longer "Snowy Side"!

I purchased Veteran Status from the DDO store so I can make Level 4 characters, which I'm happy about, however...

My housemate and his brother & niece also play DDO but not very often, so all of their characters are on the Snowy Side of Korthos. I made a new character to join their group and chose to abandon the Headstart quest to keep my character at Level 1 in Korthos, yet this new character is set as "Sunny Side" which means I'm unable to team up with my housemate or his brother & niece on the occasions that they want to play DDO.

I know I can ask all three of them to speak to Valeria to skip the Korthos Storyline, but why on Eberron can't I just have a new character that starts Snowy Side like all the other new characters?!

if you skip the tutorial, youre on sunny korthos

was always like that and will prolly always be

so to group with your friend, either you have to do the grotto again or your friend does the tutorial once, gets a new char and skips the tutorial then too

This sounds like a bug - if you abort the airship leveling to 4 it should really drop you back at the shipwreck shore where you can talk to Jeets and decide whether you want to skip to the sunny side or stay on the snowy side.

Make sure you bug report it and be very clear about which part you're skipping (not the part with jeets on the shore, but the part with the dude on the airship)

I saw somewhere here in the forums that if you do a /death on the airship, you'll go to snowy side grotto... or something to that effect. Worth a try, I guess.

    It did, and I did.

I spoke to Jeets, DID NOT skip the Korthos Storyline and played through the Grotto quest with him, Cellimas & Talbron and completed the quest. Another thing I noticed is that after exiting the grotto, Randall has his chalice-with-checkmark icon above his head, yet I can't interact with him. Everytime I try to click on him he just has the floating text above his head, with no actual dialoge box which means that there's always a yellow checkmark on my map and no way to register that quest (Shipwreck Shore/Welcome to Korthos? I forget what it's called) as being completed.

It does work, I discovered that myself. You can do all the levelling up and speak to the Minotaur to get your starter gear then type /death instead of speaking to the captain, to go to the shipwreck shore and pick up your Ring of Waterbreathing from the chest in the Grotto. That also sets your character to Sunny Side though.

I do hope the /death thing isn't a bug because I don't want it to be "fixed" if it is. I like having a Ring of Waterbreathing.

Before you type /death you should talk to the captain and go on into Stormreach. Then you can pick up your starter flame weapon from the WF Bellwether. After you get the weapon you can type /death and end up on the beach with Jeets.

You still end up in Sunny Korthos at the end. If you want to group with friends they will have to go to the dock in Korthos, talk with the 2nd mate, and take the options to travel into Stormreach. They don't need to complete any quests to do this, just talk to the mate. Once they've travelled into SR, they immediately return to Korthos and will be on the sunny side and can continue with all their quests and group with you as well.

Basically, when you start a new character your bind point is the beach with Jeets. You can get back to that beach by typing /death at any time, up until you've either bound your spirit elsewhere, or have gone back and completed The Grotto (which resets your bind point to Korthos village).

You can always start up a second free account to assist your freinds on the snowy side. If you play enough, having a throw away character for a dozen hours of play time isn't a big deal.

Default to get from snowy side to sunny side all you have to do is take the boat.

just go to stormreach and come back, voila sunny! you will get a warning that you should do the tutorial, but hey you plan on it anyway so no prob.

That's weird. I did the /death and did the tutorial and was in on snowy side.

That's what I thought at first too, it looked like it was snowing in the Village but I could team up with post-Korthos players then after doing The Storehouse's Secret quest the weather reset to Sunny.

I do this to get the water-breathing ring, and while after the tutorial you are in snowy, it seems as soon as you enter anywhere, like the tavern, as soon as you leave it you are in sunny side. Weird.

I'm fairly sure the dungeon instances are still the same, so even if you are on different sides of korthos, you can party up and enter a dungeon.

Haven't tried it myself, so feel free to post here if this is not the case.

If you /death and do the grotto you will end up in Snowy Korthos when you exit, but you are somehow flagged for Sunny Korthos, so the instant you enter and exit any instance in Snowy, even just the tavern, you'll find your self on the sunny side.

Not sure what the impact of this would be if you exited the Grotto then grouped with a non-Vet in Snowy for a quest. Would the two of you FO the quest into different Korthoses?

Just tried, and if you are a veteran you can't even group with someone standing in front of you in snowy.
