    Default Saturday Morning Static Guild

I am starting a Static Group guild on Orien that will play on Saturday Mornings from 7 A.M. until 10 or 11 A.M. EST (GMT -5)
and possibly once during the week if hours can be agreed upon.

It will abide by the standard static group guidlines such as no zerging...no AH....no outside Pugs with your toon in the group. I would like to focus on newer players, who would like to enjoy the dungeon crawling experience, but have no problem with vets who have patience with us "noobs." Going through a dungeon for the first time, not knowing what is around the next corner, depending on the individual skills of you party....these are the things that excite me the most about this game and I am looking for like minded players. The only condition for membership in this group is a desire to work as a team, and to have fun playing the game. I have VIP status, but it is not neccessary that you do. We will eventually get to all the content, but it will be at a moderate pace, so it will be up to each member to obtain access to that content as we get to it. I would prefer players with mics, as communication is a must when utilizing teamwork, but if you dont have one at the moment, that is ok. I would like to start at level 1, with brand new group-only characters, and run through the island so any new players in the group can experience it, and so we can accumulate the gear you only get there. This will be a lengthy process, going slow and not playing as frequently as some. That being said, it will take a long time.....over a year, to get to end content. Getting to the destination of "end content" is not the focus of this group.....enjoying the journey is.

I will be on tomorrow, Sat Nov 14, at 7 AM as crann on Orien. I would like to get some people together to discuss particulars, and pool ideas for the structure of this new group. I know this is short notice, and it is only the beginning of the proccess of putting together a group. If you can make it, and are interested, throw me a tell in game, and we will get this group started. If you can't make it, or read this later, post your interest and we will make every effort to accomodate all who are interested, even if we have multiple groups running.

Default Birth of The Knights of Saturn, Pt. I

This morning witnessed the beginning of The Knights of Saturn on the Orien server. It is a Static group playing primarily on Saturday mornings from 7 A.M. EST until 11 A.M. We are seeking additional members for our group, and envision a guild of 12 that would meet and adventure exclusively with each other, from level 1 to end game. Any having an interest, please reply with a post, or send me a PM. More details will follow. No experience is required, only a willingness to work as a team, and a desire to have fun enjoying this game.

Default Birth of the Knights of Saturn, Pt. II

    Static Group

The primary benefit of a static group is to build group cohesion and develop effective strategies for overcoming challenging adventures in an effort to reach the endgame. To that end, the following guidelines for ensuring group cohesion will be followed. Also, please realize that this type of group will not advance through the ranks as fast as many are used to. Please be considerate of others and be prepared for a long term commitment.

The following will be the guidlines that the group follows: (+1 to Salome on his tolerating our plagiarism)

    Quest Level Selection
    1. No zerging. A static group is meant to rely on team work and strategy (not that zerging isn’t a strategy).
    2. All quests will be run at the highest level difficulty available to the group.
    3. The highest level member sets the floor for which level quests can be run. For example, if the highest level member is level 4 then the lowest level quest that can be run is a level 4.
    4. If a quest chain is being run, the last segment of the quest chain determines the level for the entire quest chain, i.e., Tangle Root on hard is a level 8 quest.
    5. All members will be initiated into the static group immediately after character creation.
    6. All quests will be completed with members from the guild, even Korthos. No PUG’ing and no solo play.
    7. Guild members may not purchase hireling contracts or use hirelings. The one exception to this rule will be in the event the healers cannot play, then the use of a cleric hireling is approved.
    8. Quests will only be run if there is a quorum. Four players from the guild at a minimum are required to initiate quests.
    9. Members of the static group should not miss two consecutive scheduled runs.
    10. If a member misses a quest, they are allowed to solo the missed quests only if a quorum cannot be established to make up that quest.
    11. All guild members must stay within two levels of one another (i.e., when one guild member is level 6 the lowest level member cannot be below level 4). If more than one guild member drops below the allowed level spread then they may adventure together to get within the spread.
    12. Sub-grouping is allowed to ensure that all guild members stay within the level spread. However, once all members of the sub-group are within the level spread then the sub-group should be disbanded.
    13. No spoilers. Don’t talk about what is coming up in a quest. You don't have to pretend you've never done a quest but respect that others may not have or that they may have forgotten details. For example, don’t call traps if your character can’t spot them. Don’t ask someone what is behind the next door. Don’t ask what resists you need if you don’t know. You can (and should) warn others if your character spots the trap. You can scout ahead and report to others what lies ahead. You can cast a resist spell on a group-mate prior to an encounter or watch what resists they used. It’s acceptable to ask the caster to put a resist on you when you know what’s coming. Just don’t spoil surprises for others. If they’ve forgotten what elite Kobold Shamans throw, they’ll be reminded soon enough. If you see a group-mate running into certain death, ask them to stop a moment, slow down or let a scout go first. Feel free to discuss details after an encounter as that's how we learn.
    14. No PUG’ing. Did I already mention that? Do not group with others outside the static group.
    15. The group will not exit and re-enter a quest. We will not re-enter to complete objectives or loot until the instance re-sets. It makes sense that if you can exit the Kobold lair to recoup, so can the Kobolds. If you have to recall from a quest before completion, let the instance reset. In the event that it is necessary for a member to re-enter the quest to save a fellow member, re-entry prior to re-set is acceptable.
    16. First and foremost, no twinking. Do not accept ANY gifts from anyone outside of the Static group
    17. Guild members can share items that are found in chests.
    18. End rewards cannot be traded (They’re bound anyway.)
    19. Unwanted items may be sold to vendors or brokers, to can earn gold.
    20. Do not use the auction house to buy or sell items. Do not monitor auctions for non static group characters. This helps ensure equipment stays at a moderate level. It restricts money flow into the static group and encourages individual economic strategy.
    21. You are allowed to purchase items from Favored House vendors such as House D arrows and the like.
    22. Do not purchase items from the DDO store.

    Economy: Live off the land

Currently DDO's economy and ease of obtaining magic items and equipment does not accurately reflect the economy of the era in which questing took place. While this is less likely on a new server, there are significant restrictions to what can be legitimately purchased and from whom it can be purchased. These restrictions are intended to maintain character and game balance. It also encourages members to value what their character gains.

All character classes play an essential role in the guild. In general, each member will be fairly well specialized. This specialization should be respected by other group members. For example, if you know someone prefers a crossbow and you just looted the only +2 crossbow in the group, it the best interest to give that person the crossbow. If two people are interested in an item they can role a hundred sided die to determine the winner. The character with the highest role is granted the item. This is at the discretion of the party members who pulls the loot and their preference should be respected. If because, they pulled a +2 crossbow they decide to specialize in that weapon their entitled to do so. If a loot item catches your eye let your interest be know but don'tt be a whiner or hold a grudge. The loot is still just a set of pixels!

Further related to specialization, let the rogue spot and disable the trap. Let the rogue backstab the boss if he or she wants. Let the cleric turn the undead. Let the rocks for brain fighter shield block the door. Open the door for the monk so they don’t lose their ki. Let the Paladin protect the squishy in the back of the group. Let the diplomatic Cleric talk to the NPC. Let the ranger use their bow to take out a few kobolds in the Clan Gnashtooth Prison. You get my drift.

DDO is meant to be a distraction from the real world. Real life happens and group members should be respectful and accepting of that. If you find yourself unable to suspend your anxieties about what is going on in the real world to the extent that you can't immerse yourself in DDO consider taking the day off. Also, we don't mind hearing about getting a big raise or that the date went well but these events should not eclipse the enjoyment of the game or membership in a static group.

    Default Adventure, take one!

    Adventure, take one!

Cran yelled over to me that they were gathering. I was drooling over some birch-wood pulp in the market, checking my pockets for coins and didnt actually put together that he was yelling at me to come to the meeting until the "Warforged spare parts" vendor (as we warforged call him), glaring at me impatiently, asked me if it was my friend calling for me over yonder.

"What???" I said, a bit shaken out of my indecision at what I was going to buy.
I looked over and Cran was tapping his foot, arms crossed across his burly dwarven chest, his dwarven beard getting grayer, if that was even possible.

"Ye comin or not ye silly construct?!" he said, one more time.

"Oh, right, right...coming, coming", I said.

The raw materials vendor grimmaced and turned back to his stall, obviously unsatisfied with me not buying anything.

"Funky and tha other are alredy there by hearin's right", said Cran.

We walked, picking up the pace - or rather, me just trying to keep up with Cran - back towards the harbour docks. Got ourselves a ticket to Korthos and sat back on the deck and took a nap.

Back in Korthos a while later we stepped off the platform and spotted the 2, obviously the 2 waiting for our arrival.

"Hi diddle do! My name's Funky 'lo!", said the elf, obviously a very lyrically inclinded one at that.
The one standing next to him smirked, looked up at us and was much more to the point:
"I'm Kwik.", he said, in a deep calm voice.

"So's yer the othars that we be meetin here ta settle this 'ere problem this lil village be havin aye?!", said Cran. Possibly even with a hint of mockery in his voice.
"Aye!!! Thats indeed who we are, master dwarf! Might I ask what kind of music you most enjoy, BY THE WAY???" said Funky the elf, in a very teasing manner.
"Now now", interrupted Kwik calmly, "there will be plenty of time for celebration afterwards. Perhaps we best get moving to the graveyard, where already now the problems are mounting that we were summoned here to solve."

"Yes, that seems logical" I said, still gathering data and analysing all these new companions I had aquired.

And so the 4 adventurers went, up to the village square, passers-by staring at them either in amazement or bewilderment, one could not tell. Up to the graveyard where a woman was standing to greet them, although not in the cheeriest of moods. A quest they were given, to cleanse out the tomb of the Heyton family, where undead and aggressive beasts most recently had begun emerging to attack the villagers.

These companions all heard a calling, through different means every one of them, though in the end all together they banded to form a group that would set forth into the world and confront any and all challenges together. They are dedicated to eachother, though total strangers at the outset, and will never part ways til the end of all things. Some have come by this path by self interest, others by blood oaths that must be fulfilled, still others by contract or promise. Diverse as one could imagine, they will learn to work together, and overcome all obstacles; using only what they find in themselves and their surroundings.
They call themselves the Knights of Saturn, and their exploits are eager to be shared with any others who by some chance might also have a dedication needing fulfillment.

(We are a static guild/group that has just formed, and created all of us new characters to start our adventures together. We have room for a total maximum of 12 players in this static guild, of which 4 spots are currently taken - therefore 8 still remain.)

I would be interested in working with a static group. I am usually available on Saturdays between 7-10 and have 4 different characters just created on Korthos. I will have to refresh my memory but I believe I have a wizard (Zizzle) I started, but I may have already soloed a few missions as well. If it is against the rules, I could always restart him, since I do not think he is even past 1k EXP yet.
