I don't mean to resurrect a thread to beat a dead horse, but I thought it better than starting another one. It doesn't seem to matter what character of mine I log in with, I get at least 2 blind party invites per play session. I could be playing my new wizard, or my higher level cleric or rogue, it doesn't matter. Then there's the blind guild invites. At least one of those per session as well. Honestly, if I was the leader of a guild I would never ever send out blind invites to join it. Seriously, would you start a business and then stand out on the street and hire anyone who walked by without an interview? If so, enjoy going bankrupt faster than a wizard dies in a fist fight at level one. Phew, thanks for letting me get that out of my system.

Now on the other hand, if someone were to send me a tell asking if I wanted to do such and such quest, would I be interested. Then sure I would join their group. But blind invites of any kind are about as cool as this guy....

My Cannith blind invite story from two days ago:

I was in Kobold Assault (by myself and having forgotten to equip my new shield. Won it, but please don't start an "I did KA when I was first level and naked." reply.) when the invite came in. I went ahead and clicked join. They were off in house K. Now KA leaves little time to type, especially when it's you and a scorpion. When I finally finished I started off to join them. I let them know I was coming.

Just about the time I reached the gates of House Kundarek the party chat pops up with "Sorry Mulray, I thought you were a hireling. I passed you in the dungeon." (!?!)

I dropped immediately, but with a smile. Do I really want to get involved with someone who thinks hirelings stand around in dungeons and accept invites?

Blind invites? With apologies to Nancy Reagan: "Just Say No."
What do you mean a -6 armor class is no good any more?

I've decided to take every and all blind invites on my favored soul. I just accept and continue doing whatever I'm doing. It goes something like this:

xxx blind invites you to party.
    I accept
a few minutes goes by...without me saying anything
Hey do you know your way to (insert quest name here)?
a few minutes goes by...without me saying anything
Share quest box shows up, hit no
a few minutes goes by...without me saying anything
    You are dismissed from party.

Maybe tough love is the way to teach annoying blind invite spammers.
Thanks for the long time forum user purge of Aug '10 (Sarcasm for those who don't get it)

there is a simple solution... rather than going anonymous... uncheck the "accept party requests" in your Options.

Not that i am defending the practice... just an option other than being anon.

This is the kiddies. You won't find an adult doing it. And the best option is to just decline and move on. No point getting all miffed over kidiots being kidiots.

There's a reason all the serious raiding guilds on most games won't take anyone under 18 (and I've seen 25 as a minimum age). Teenagers are rotten little *(^&*s when they aren't subject to retaliation or parental supervision.

I was just thinking about starting a thread similar to this myself.

Up until I rolled a cleric, I had never received tells. I haven't gotten a blind invite yet, just tells. I talked to my friend about this and he says he ALWAYS gets tells/invites. He plays a pure wizard, rogue, paladin and cleric characters. Though he said his ranger doesn't get invites too often.
My barb never gets invites, but they have that stigma of being a healing sponge, so I see that. My WF intimitank never gets them, but that's WF for you. My bard/rogue never gets them either.

So, is it only pure classes that get them because people think cross classes stand a good chance of being gimped? I've seen some weird mixes, but many of them turn out pretty well. I often accept them into my parties just because I'm curious.

I used to get blind party invites all the time on my Elf Paladin. I have received none since making my WF Paladin. He did on the other hand get 6 blind guild invites...all turned down, all were received from the same person.

If it matters at all I am still getting tells and blind invites. I had to look at the system to figure out how that can happen while I am soloing a quest. It's strange because I'm a multiclass fighter/Wizard. I say this because I don't think it's so much pure classes that get them.

I think though if anything, clerics must have this problem in spades. I've gotten into a number of groups where people have gone searching through the list of online clerics sending random tells. So far, it's the primary reason why I won't try rolling one up.

My FvS was afk in harbor while I was on forums. Come back to see an expired invite, send tell asking why they invited me. I get another invite from same person, ask again and get another invite. Cycle repeats once more and then I use ignore.

In general, I still accept blind invites, or, when I get the invite, send a tell "what quest are you doing?" and wait for a response (and usually a second invite, cause the first one has expired)

Something that shocked me today was being in a solo quest, getting a blind invite, turning it down (figuring I'd at least wait until I finished the solo quest), and then getting hit with an invite immediately again. I accepted. Soloed the rest of the quest. And then left the group again. Another invite. I sat in the group soloing while they ranted on my party tab (which they didn't look at).

Often my blind invite groups go okay. That one was something else.
