Default Kudos to some Sarlona vets.......

For not just shunning all the new players. I know a lot of you help newbs in all different kinds of ways. Help with builds on the forums, giving stuff away here and in game, spending time showing the ropes, answers in advice and general chat, etc.

After seeing a few other threads pop up giving stuff away I was taken back by some of the stuff peeps are giving out to newbs. I know Nuriela was doing some real nice give aways not to long ago as well, and who can forget the offer Jackknife got on a +1 tome Nice to see the community at work! Keep it up ya'll!

Generally, when I am playing..errr soloing.. my lowbies, I leave the advice/general/trade channels on and try to help out when I can. I sure wish there was this much knowledge and a willingness to share it when I started.

    Kudos, Sarlona!

It was there but no one was giving you any, I know I wouldn't.

    And what?!

I tend to help people out who show a real willingness to learn the game and become serious players. I personally wont give away an item to someone who might be gone tomorrow. Thought I could use the bank space.

Yeah I wasnt saying you had to give stuff away to be someone who helps, hope it didnt come off like that.

I was going to throw a bunch of stuff away but decided some newbs could make use of it. I chose the forums for the simple reason that I figured the people who read the forums, and have the ability to post have at least spent some money in the game, and are trying to learn about it to some extent. My thinking was these peeps had made an investment in this game in some manner, hence deserve this stuff more then any froob running around the harbor.

I have to say that I find the game totally invigorating now. Going into the marketplace or harbor is like the old days. I leave the advice, general and trade chat on just so I can see what people are asking and saying in case I have some pearl of wisdom to offer (i know i know highly unlikely).

Oh I agree, those using the forums in a positive way and looking for items to trade are at least trying to become a part of the community. I just tend to do random acts of kindness and generosity to those who seem to both need and are really intending to become a serious player. I have plenty of spare items, I just hate making lists of them on the forums. I can't remember the last trade list I had up

I've leveled a new character over the past month or two from 1 to 20 and in the course of that time I had the chance to run with many pugs. Sometimes that was good, sometimes that was bad. Sometimes I was patient, other times I just wanted to get Stormcleave done for the 500th time since I started playing in 2006. I was a little overwhelmed at first trying to help a bunch of new players but I finally settled on helping 3-4 players who seemed to enjoy the game, were eager to learn, and fun to run with. I added them to my friends list, equipped them with gear, gave them advice about builds and the game to the best of my ability, and pointed them to any resources I knew of. (Kudos to the many who have taken the time to create guides, resources, and lists within the community). Its been an interesting experience and I hope Turbine can take this growth spurt and run with it.
