Default EU player - US servers?

So... started playing DDO recently through the F2P model and decided it was great.

One week down the line have decided to sub.

Only one problem. The game will only take US/Canada/Mex credit cards. Do a little investigation and discover that the game I'm playing is run by a US company only, for US only folks. That's cool, says I, and hunt up the EU distributor.

And here's the problem. It's Codemasters (a company I've had serious issues with in the past) - I will NOT be subbing to DDO via Codemasters.

Is there any way for me to sub (and play) to the US servers?

Any help would me much appreciated.

Gametime Cards. I use them. Or Paypal, which my girlfriend uses.

Plenty of non-US people on US servers. Come on over.

Are you sure of that? When I try to subscribe to DDO via ddo.com, credit cards are the ONLY option. I don't see anything for GTC or Paypal.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

You're wrong there bro. I have no prob with my credit cards. Unless you are using a Diners card, for which if i'm not mistaken, country is an issue.

i got around this buy paying for some points(more than i should have )

although i know not everyone can do this, it enabled me to open up all the content at the time, and a few extras i wanted as well, im not sure how you would go about being vip from the EU

and on another point, i left DDO in the EU after major billing issues with codemasters, was very happy when the game went F2P here

Me and my girlfriend play from Scotland, when we first started playing we were able to subscribe through the online process but somewhere along the line they changed the forms.

When we added another account more recently we had to phone account support and explain the problem. It's a bit of a pain to have to make an international phone call but they sorted it out right away.

Bah there are no billing issues in US mates, at least for my 2 accounts for over 1 year here, after my exodus from keeper-eu.

I think it may be website issues - I managed to set the credit card location to UK, only for it to lose my personal details and give error messages on both cards.

I'll try again tomorrow, I guess.

Thanks for the help all. See you in F2P until I can persuade them to take my money!

Just a note that the version of the game run by Codemasters is not the same as the one by Turbine - different servers, CM doesn't have the DDO Store.

    Sometimes even paypal wont work...

Iv tried direct credit card and through paypal.. .same region error ... lame.. .sicne most of good game content is p2p... and i cant even buy those... or even go vip (everything limited -_-).
tho i could register my card at myaccount.ddo

yeah.. call them.... like international calls are cheap... specially when u might end up waiting for a hour.

So used email option... 4th week... nothing this far.

So this is kinda first company that doesn't want my money.

Gametime Cards, google a distributor in your neck of the woods. Those usually allow local debit card payments.
Make sure they sell you an explicit US Gametime code.

You will need a *verified* paypal account, which means having a bank account that lets you have direct debits, and a debit card.

This will allow you to buy turbine points, which you can use to buy content.

I can confirm this does work, and I'm based in the UK.

You cannot, currently, use paypal to subscribe. This is very annoying, but Turbine have promised to look into it.

They claim that they will accept any VISA, mastercard and... er... something else that escapes me for subscripion purposes. I dont' have a credit card and my debit card isn't one of these types, so Im out of luck there. However, apparently something called paybycash does allow you to subscribe and it works internationally. Apparently. I haven't tried it.

Still, if all else fails, turbine want your money. If you do have a credit card (or, they assure me, debit card) of the approved type (VISA, Mastercard or the other one), ring them up. By all accounts you will be on hold a LONG time, and its an international call, so time it right for your time zone and theirs. However, I've seen plenty of posts from people who've done this and Turbine were able to set up the requisite repeat payment for your sub.

I am *very* close to making the same decision to be honest. Just waiting for April when my debit card expires and they replace it with a VISA debit instead of this stupid Maestro card. If I'm still playing then, its a definite subscribe. If they start taking paypal subs before then, I'll be so impressed they've changed their policy as a result of player requests I'll almost certainly subscribe on the spot.

I had to try a few times entering credit card info in order to get the website to accept it. I was using a visa bankcard. I have noticed that sometimes when using a euro creditcard it helps to use an american zip code instead of your real zip code. When they check the details of your card, like name number and address I guess the zip code isn't really part of the check. It helps get around rejections in some american games I play at least.

Tried this. Unsuccessful, for me at least. I'm beginning to think that Turbine doesn't want my money!

So far, I've used an AmEx (British Airways), two Visa's (from British high-street banks) and a Mastercard (from another UK high-street bank).

Have given up and sent email to the account management folks. Not expecting a response any time soon, though (and damned if I'm sitting on the phone for an hour!) - so I guess I'll just stay a 'beggar' for a while

I haven't tried suscribing, but I've been able to buy TPs with my Lloyds issued Visa Debit card with no issues.
