I'm planning on making a rogue once I get another 9 favor to unlock 32 pointers and I have a question.

Assassinate DC

10 + character level + int mod

Does this have to score as a melee hit too? or does it act more like a short range spell

You need to hit, you need to be in sneak mode, and you need to be using a melee weapon.

Ah ok thanks, I knew about the sneak and melee weapon, just wasn't sure the hit had to count as a hit.

How do we know what kind of DC the mobs have in the various areas?

I only know that if you build for assasin then you will outkill everyone in every quest but those with a majority of undead monsters in them.

Shavarath quests on elite? Kill faster than dual vorpals and a Bloodstone on a tempest III ranger.
