Why not just play a pure dorf cleric, then you will not need mental toughness.

16/8/16/8/16/6 (put leveling points into Wisdom)
    24/16/24/8/32/6 (assumes +2 tomes, Wis3 enhancement, +6items)

    Max
    Empower
    Extend
    Quicken
    Toughness
2 Feats to spare (Spell Pen/Grtr spell pen or power attack/improved crit or mental toughness/imp mental toughness, etc.)

If you aren't multiclassing to get the martial weapons (in particular the Greataxe), there's no reason to go dwarf and no reason to have a 16 strength.

IMO there are two main types of clerics that work well - offensive caster clerics that have maximum possible Wisdom (they suffer greatly for dropping it), or melee-based clerics that have maximum possible Strength. The Str-based ones are stronger in Epic quests; the Wisdom-based ones are better almost everywhere else, but both pull their weight as healers when required.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

I was thinking of one reason - now that you can just buy 32 point builds, you can go 16 str and 18 wis starting stats on a dwarf cleric without sacrificing anything. Hell, you even get a 16 con as well!

so right now i do not have the cash to buy the 32 point builds, so those are out of the option, and so far on my 16 im loveing the 1 lvl of fighter, for the mele, and im still strong in spells.

so any thing relly on those stats ( i rlly would love to not have to change the idea of the build

could always wait for true rez and go with a 34 or 36 point build

I have a Dwarven 19 Cleric/1 Pally that works quite well. He has a 28 str and 36 Wisdom and can hold his own in melee, offensive casting, or healing. The Pally level provide martial weapon proficiency and provides a decent bump to your spell point pool allowing you forgoe mental toughness. I think his spell point pool at cap is ~2200.

His stats are pretty good because of +3 tomes (Shroud, Shroud, Shroud,...), +3 exceptional str on a ring (ToD), and +3 exceptional wisdom on a mineral II dwarven axe.
