    Default Slowfall Killing Tumble

Slowfall is overwriting tumble completely whether you have slowfall toggled on or off and causing more damage than is normally taken by a build with tumble.

As soon as my Monk got the slowfall ability my tumble skill seemed to no longer help with damage from falls. The falls that used to cause no damage are now causing damage. I tried to toggling it off but then even more damage is taken.

Slowfall is not only 'not useful' at low levels, it is harmful.

sounds like a bug, make sure you report it.

on the good side of things, once you reach around level 16 or so, you no longer take any damage from falling even with slowfall turned off - I didn't notice any different between 16 and 20 other than at 20 you feather fall when it's on.

the lack of the ability to turn off slow fall becomes quite a nuisance at some points (having to slow fall all the way down to Siber Atol, or off of Amrath. it also makes some optional quest objectives impossible (for example the chests at the end of a Bastion require you to get to the portals when he uses reverse gravity. With slow fall you cannot get the altitude nessecary to get there.

the only difference is it works when "falling" upwards due to R. gravity, but it does not effect falling back down

I am multiclassing with monk so I will not see lvl 16 monk.

If you are saying that you still take no damage when Slowfall is "off" that means it is never really off. If that is the case it should not overwrite tumble.

Right now all my trains in tumble are wasted and slowfall is killing me.

The falling speed cannot be turned off but if you have the sudden desire to still take damage as if you had no slowfall you can turn off the protection from falling damage :P

The point is there would be no damage if tumble was working. The same falls were damageless with tumble before slowfall became available.

yeah there seems to be plenty of issues with slowfall. hopefully we'll see some changes in the near future

I agree with the OP...I have maxed ranks in Tumble for my level, and I am seeing no benefit from Slow Fall at all. I am taking damage from even moderate height drops, where I take none from a character with equal Dex/Tumble but no Slow Fall. Toggling it on/off seems to have no effect except to make the icon pulse.
    On Sarlona:
    Omnitek 17 (WF Monk 13/ Rogue 3/Wizard 1, soloist).
Calphalon 7 (WF, Rogue 1/Artificer 6, *still* duoing with my wife and having fun)

There is a bug with slowfall that turning it off mid-fall does not take effect immeidately.

e.g. in prey when the ice breaks and then suddenly you realise (as a level 20 monk) that you forgot to turn it off, and reach the bottom after everyone's killed everything. Very frustrating. (even more frustrating to realise this half way to Reaver's Refuge!)

Happily there is a fix for this, you can disable slow fall then equip and unequip a feather fall item and it will 'fix' your falling speed. But it does mean you need to carry a FF item which uses up a valuable inventory slot.

I keep forgetting to bug report this... I will do that now otherwise 404error kills kobolds (apparently)

It sounds like there are a lot of bugs with slowfall. However the one you mentioned Garth sounds like an inconvienience.

It is totally negating a skill (tumble) and making lower lvl monks WORSE at falling instead of better.

Yes, indeed. On my standard fall test (off top of Stormreach) I only took 6 today. That was nice. Thanks!
It occurs to me that the dice are being rolled by the same computer that's trying to kill me. It knows all the moves - it's just toying with me.
