    Default Now that the game is a hit, can we start talking about weapons again?

    • Spears?
    • Spiked chains?
    • Sais?
    • Whips?
    • Slings?

    Etc?

    p.s. I was going to add bo stick so there would be a finesse two-hand weapon but I checked the d20 SRD and it isn't there. I wonder when bo sticks dropped out of the canon?

    Maybe after they fix ranged, shields, and casting, plus at least 5 other things, then they can start looking into weapons that players wouldn't really use anyway.

    Scythe!!! 2 handed x4 crit weapon would be nice though

    And Flasks of oil.

    Mechanics for them are already in the game (sun flasks, alchemical flasks that the Quickfoot thieves use, Kobold flasks, etc...)

    Its way past time we players got to use these things on a regular basis.

    It isn't much, but the Breeze Staff from the Abbot uses your DEX mod for to-hit and damage. Kinda like super-uber finesse without the feat.

    I remember back days at d & d , wy to use a diff wep not for role playing was cause the speed at this moment most people jumping on one exotic wepon cuase have crit x3 yes and its great cause all weps have the same speed, fix that that way gona have lot more ppl choosing dif weps not all jumping on kophes and rapiers.

    thats the way i tink , more versatility.. and bring on the Scythe!!!!!! i luv them.

    Hm, I think it would be a higher priority to make more of the weapons already IN the game be non-useless. Basically we've got Khopesh, Falchion, and the best of each race's racials weapon list: Dwarven Axe, Greataxe, Rapier, Scimitar. Technically there is some use for Kamas, too, though a narrow one.

    That's a pretty short list of worthwhile weapons.

    The new staff from mindsunder resembles a spear, so that's a start.

    I wouldn't mind new weapons, but folks should understand that adding new weapons is one of the most costly things they can do. The art and animations required is VERY expensive - or so we've been told.

    In fact that was exactly why we were told - on more than one occasion - greatsword and falchion animations could not possibly be updated to compete with mauls and greataxes.

    It would be a mistake to add an item that looks like a farm implement and yet is superior to a greatsword, greataxe, or falchion.

    Can you understand the distinction between these two sentences?

    Scythes are technically already in-game. go to the Orchard in upper Necropolis. find the melee guys (first set at zombie wagons) they all wield scythes, and look decent too...
    But do players get them?!?

    spiked chain would need a special animation.
    whips pretty much same as all one handers only slightly longer reach.
    (well minus the thrust in the 3rd step)

    Note: people have walked the path of darkness and blindly follow the belief of maximize DPS over everything... Personally I prefer a nice concept/theme build that i can fully enjoy. So what if it takes an extra swing or two to drop something.

    Forget the Scythe. We want the Greathorn Greathammer. This 2 hander crushes skulls to the tune of 1d12 19-20/x4. No need for new animations, just increase the look and size of a maul and bash away. The Goliath Greathammer isn't horrible as it does 1d12 x4, but it's obviously no Greathorn Greathammer.

    We were told it was a lot of work, not that it was impossible. In fact, I recall a post about how they had messed with the existing animations to try and fix the attack speed issue and it had ended up looking horrible - which delayed the fix till they could do it right.

    If it took that much just to fix the swing speed/attack progression of existing weapons, imagine what it takes to add completely new weapons.

    In other words, don't get your hopes up.
