you do know those ML 1 tomes are now only worth the same as ML 7 +2 tomes?

you don't get any of the +2 tome effects till lv 7 anyways

It was stated before that if you use one now, that the effects will take effect as they used to once the next patch hits. As for now they will have nothing appear, but once the patch hits, you will get your +2 effect on stats at level 1. All other unused +2 tomes will be re-made as ml 7 + 2 tomes as of the patch as well.
