    Default Best DDO mouse?

I use a pretty normal Logitech corded mouse (got tired of the batteries dying on me on my cordless one), but man, this could really help with all those action bars everywhere:

    Ugly as sin, but hey...

That first one has all the buttons on the thumb, I'd think that would be kind of limiting...my thumb is my least agile finger, whereas on the OpenOffice one you might even be able to hit two buttons at a time, I dunno. Then again, the OpenOffice one has a joystick there...no idea how that would feel. They all look pretty uncomfortable, hehe. That first one have a pinky button? Don't think I've used a mouse with a pinky button before...

I personally like Razers stuff. The deathadder is what I use for a mouse

great DPI (2900), I tend to palm my mice so this one fits perfectly into my hand. I can play hours on end with no fatigue, 2 programmable left thumb keys, back lit (which can be turned off if not wanted)

and I use their Lycosa keyboard

great feel on the keys, smooth and again backlit, you can also turn the back light off if you choose too.

Personally I use a LogiTech Trackman Marble. I freakin hate using a mouse to play games. Trackballs are nicer and occupy less desk space IMO.

There's also the good ol' Nostromo:

    http://www.n52te.com/

But it's not a mouse, and I always ended up (had an older n52) having to take my hands off it to type...in games with voice chat, or just using Ventrilo or similar, the need to type is lessened, so maybe this is a good potential off-hand weapon.

I picked up a Naga a couple days ago. Here is a little mini review.

    Background
My previous mouse was a logitec g5. I am a huge believer in mouse button use and used all of the buttons on my g5. They say it takes about a week or two to get use to this mouse and i have not started taking full advantage of the 12 thumb buttons.

    Pros
Great movement. So far no tracking issues at all.

Very comfortable. My hand sits very well on the mouse. The left and right buttons cup your fingers and there is a nice spot for your third finger to rest on.

I haven't gotten to use the 12 thumb buttons much yet but at first blush it is pretty easy to tell where your thumb is on the pad. The only thing that might inhibit the usefulness is that I have to use the tip of my thumb to press the buttons so it will take an extra .5-1 second to move my thumb into position to press.

    Cons
None of the buttons can be reprogrammed. The 1-12 buttons are either 1-10-= keys or number pad 1-0-=. The two side buttons by the left mouse button are forward and back. There is no place in the software to change these buttons. Ideally these buttons should have been able to map to any key combination.

    Possible Con
Small buttons for the thumb. I think I would have rather just had 1-9 with bigger buttons but I don't have enough time on the mouse to make that decision yet.

I also use a ideazon/steelseries fang. It is by far the best game-pad I have ever used. It doesn't look as cool as some of the newer pads but the button placement and software are far superior to any other pad out there. You can macro any key, download and import other peoples setups, color code, label, and print out your setup, drop or copy/paste keys to move them around instead of reprogramming.

Best mouse I've used so far (not that I've used that many). Crazily highly programmable w/ keystrokes or macros (even the left-right scroll wheel motion can be reprogrammed: great for backspacing through interactables). Cordless, with on the fly charging via cord if necessary), adjustable weight, adjustable DPI. And I prefer the up-down orientation of the thumb buttons.

Shizmonkey (OG Grand Poo-Bah of R.O.G.U.E. 1st edition) and other various ShizAlts
R.O.G.U.E. Proving Grounds Redux is now defunct. Check out Part Quatre

i really want one of them just because.. well.. im a dork and i love having 10 billion buttons on my mouse.. and i was wondering how is that razer mmo mouse? like does it just map to the keys on the keyboard or is it independantly controlled by the razer software? or does windows support all of the buttons without the razer software? and most importantly does ddo actually recognize the fact that it has that many buttons? just wondering if anyone has it and knows these details..

Pretty good synopsis. I just bought this and while the keys take a bit to get used to, they are very nice to have especially on my sorc. I do wish they were programmable but that's what the G15 is for!

I did like changing my tab next monster key to the #12 key for quick change for my FoD...

It is by far the most comfortable mouse I've had yet. I just need to stop randomly spamming the wrong key when under pressure in near wipe instances. Talking about making things worse! :P Or, I COULD move my grease from key #9 (A bit too close to tab)...

I suspect you'll find that sort of mouse with numerous buttons doesn't really work all that well because when you shift your fingers to actuate the buttons, you also shift the mouse.

Trackballs don't have this problem, but you can't control large trackballs with your thumb very effectively and small trackballs tend to be a nightmare for precision positioning (such as clicking on a specific button).

The best compromise I've found is Vertical Mouse. Theoretically, it's designed for ergonomics rather than gaming, but the orientation makes pressing up to 4 buttons practical in a game situation (3 buttons + scroll wheel). It has a fifth button (located under the thumb), but you end up with the same "mouse moves when you press" issue.

The Nostromo is a decent idea, but crippled by poor implementation. For example, your automatic impulse would probably be to set up the D-Pad for movement. But this really doesn't work all that well since the D-Pad can't issue chords for diagonal movement. So you normally end up occupying 6 of your standard keys with movement (strafing + turning + forward/back). This leaves you 9 keys to activate functions, which you'd like to shift between using that previously unusable D-Pad (keeping your movement keys in all frames). But you can't since the software doesn't recognize this sort of configuration.

I've also found the Logitech gaming keyboards rather worthless. While they certainly look cool, they're really no better than a standard keyboard except for the fact that the LCD panel makes it easy to change your music without alt-tab'ing out of the game. The extra keys are located off to the left and are basically useless - every keyboard already has 'extra keys' on the numeric keypad so if you're going to take your hands off movement keys you've already got an option without a high-priced 'gaming keyboard'.

The SteelSeries Merc looks like it might be a good left-hand appliance, but I haven't actually tried it yet. The positioning of the WASD movement grid in an independent grouping of keys off to the left looks to be good, but my suspicion is that it would work a lot better if they just had a separate, additional keyboard rather than grafting it onto a full-sized keyboard and forcing your hands far apart.

    kone N' fang

The fang feels a bit cheap but the butterfly layout, different size/shape/curvature of buttons not to mention the plenthora of buttons within easy reach is very nice.

The kone is plain brilliant, except if you get one of the early versions with a weak scroll wheel, the wheel breaks down while things go south and you have important stuff mapped to tilt right/tilt left.
