Why do Empower and Maximize not work with Cloudkill at all? These metamagics don't even compound its Acid damage. What gives? My proposal is pretty simple; have Empower and Maximize Spell work with Cloudkill as they should.

in stat damage not killing but merely immobilizing a mob.
Max/Empower didn't work when it was just CON damage and probably got missed when they added the direct damage component of the spell, or it may not be able to be made to work as it still has the CON damage aspect and that would be hard to MAX/EMPOWER, not sure.
From what I understand, the ability damage the Poison spell inflicts is also subject to Metamagic improvement. I don't see why Cloudkill's couldn't, or shouldn't be enhanced either. Even if only the acid damage was enhanced though, I'd be happy.
Ah, well end game, that's true, it would become bothersome as empower/maximize are almost perpetually active, so the ability damage should certainly be increased by Metamagic as well; that's my preference to begin with.
Now that said, I think it's a definite flaw of the interface that there's no way to prepare and flag which Metamagic affects a given spell hotslot. This capability should certainly exist in order to enable more granular control over Metamagic application.

Maximize and empower probably dont work because the spell is changed from it's pnp equivalent to deal acid damage when the old spell only dealt con damage.
It's interesting that the original pnp spell is actually supposed to move slowly, and pour down surfaces as if it was a liquid almost; pooling at the bottom.
The problem in this game with metmagic is that it is a combat mode..
Being able to prepare specific metamagic modified selected spells and dropping them in your quickbar for use at combat time is how it should be.
ie. dropping a maximized fireball into slot 3, a heightened grease into slot 2, an extended heightened dominate person into slot 4.. etc
I agree. Prefabricating Metamagic modded hotslots is how it should be as I mentioned in my previous post.
Maximize and Empower both worked to increase the CON damage on the spell from DnD. They should certainly do so in DDO.Maximize and empower probably dont work because the spell is changed from it's pnp equivalent to deal acid damage when the old spell only dealt con damage.
