Default Turbine is not a legitimate company -- Visa

I am having trouble subscribing using my Visa credit card. Turbine is able to make temporary authorization to my card for $1, but when Turbine tries to charge the card for $14.99, Visa denied it. I have tried this at least 3 times.

I first called Turbine, a representative immediately told me Turbine may not a be an authorized merchant and I need to call my credit card company to add Turbine as acceptable merchant.

I called my credit card company, they are saying Visa is not recognizing Turbine as a legitimate merchant and there is no way they can approve the charge.

Anyone else have problems with their Visa?

Turbine -- would you please make yourself legitimate to Visa?

    Guarantee ya that ain't a Turbine-side issue.

Goodly portion of us been using a Visa for years, myself included, without issue.

Not that that's really any help with your situation, other than narrowing it to pretty much being your card issuer causing the problem.

The fact that the Turbine representative told me immediately Turbine may not a be an authorized merchant means that this happened before, and often.

...with specific card issuers, I'd be betting.

Do you have any other cards by other issuers (like a debit card) to try?

By "issuer", I'm not meaning Visa. That's just the brand name. The issuer is going to be the actual company issuing you the card.

For instance I have a Visa that is issued by my personal bank. I have another that is issued by Chase bank, etc.

Merchants do not register with individual credit card issuer as valid merchant. Otherwise, that would be way too many. They simply register with the major credit card networks such as Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, and discover.

If this problem persists it should be a fairly easy fix for your bank representative. They should be able to see Turbine's charge attempts and authorize Turbine as a vendor for future transactions. If the problem persists you may want to give us a call back and request that the Turbine Representative try to manually add the card for you. At the very least this will give us a more specific error message to work with. Contact information can be found within my signature.

This problem does persist -- my credit card issuer, bank of america..., does see the charge attempts, but they were denied by Visa. There is nothing bank of america can do unless Turbine register itself as a valid visa merchant.

Turbine is registered as a valid Visa merchant. Please give us a call and we will try to manually add the card to your account. This will also allow us to troubleshoot the problem a bit further. Our new extended phone support hours and contact number can be found within my signature.

It's not Visa, I have been using my Visa card to pay for this game for almost 3 years now, your bank needs to add Turbine as a "Valid Merchant".

As CD has stated, it is probably a certain issuer.

ALSO, and this you may not be aware of. You can get CC that will only accept charges from certain retailers that you designate. This helps to protect you in events of online identity theft. Someone steals your CC# that could only be used at say... Exxon Gas. They then proceed to try to buy tickets or large TVs... oh look, denied!

The only way to use that card for Turbine is to have them be authorized.

But in the end, the issue is with your card issuer, not the conglomeration of VISA or Turbine.

Edit: Bank of America... you know that figures. We have tried 4 freaking times to get my wife her photo on her visa... they keep FAILING, just a standard issue no picture card. I don't hold much faith in them quite honestly.
I tried to get loan information out of them... they set me up another freaking credit card instead that I did NOT want. Yeap, I canceled that sucker fast.

maybe your bank in not legitimate, just kidding
some banks are getting security minded they are impeding their customers ability to spend their own money

I had a similar issue and it was my bank that had to resolve it, I stayed on the phone until with quite a few reps for what seemed like forever, but after my pitching a B to about 3 or 4 reps it was resolved, and as far as I know their is nothing turbine can do to resolve this its all on your bank,

Oh nooooooozzzeeeee.... There's the problem.... You bank with perhaps the WORST large U.S. bank.... Bank of ******** (Fill in the blanks if you dare). I dropped them like a hot rock many years ago, after horrendous battles surrounding my business accounts. And strangely enough, my employees and how the bank handled the Visa CC's issued to them from my business. They have a long record of having the most inept employees in the banking industry. If the little script in front of them doesn't say EXACTLY what to do, and the way you word your problem is EXACTLY right.... Good luck.... You can bet they'll get the fee for you talking to a live person right though....

I hope things work out for you....

I have had this very problem with my Visa card last summer, too.

I think "just waiting" fixed the problem but I also remember calling a CSR as well so I'm not 100% sure.

    Cool

Got the same problem with Visa and MasterCard (not turbine related) which denies purchases made through paypal. it says PayPal was an illegitimate company and a fraud.

We all know what PayPal was, what i do, sit and mail support and login to the live support chat. after 2 days of communication.. both my MasterCard and Visa card got release and PayPal was added on my authorized company.

I agree that most of the issues was on the bank denying the actual charge. ^_^

    Default Work card?

In my job as CFO, I set up our commercial card programs and often block certain types of vendors. For example, hotels are one code, restaurants another, entertainment another.

If it is a work based card program, quite likely Turbine fits into the commercial code for a type of vendor that is blocked by your program. Not sure if this fits your case but could be a reason. Hope it helps.

To add to what Carat said, on rare occasions we have heard of issuers listing Turbine as "Casino/Gaming" instead of "Arcade/Gaming". This resulted in the transaction being blocked by the issuer. This is a rare problem, but something worth asking the issuer if you do give them a call.

They must be playing too much 'dice' and other gambling games at the Phoenix inn at the marketplace and the harbor if they think this game is a 'casino' game. I mean, come on guys! Not all of us spend our GP on drinks at the tavern and gambling...not like I ever hear of anyone who successfully 'gambled' plat to get whatever they wanted...
