Don't do that to new players, that chest is so tough to get, yea it might have a higher +2 tome drop rate but most new players can't reach it. It's not worth it guys the chest he is talking about is dang near impossible to get, first off you can't see it until you jump down for it, and 2nd you can't be wearing feather fall. It is under the bridge on the underside of the island where Velah sits, it is covered by a rocky illusion so you won't be able to see it till you jump. Just be warned you will spend all day trying to get it so the 75% +2 tome drop rate isn't worth it.

The lava chest? I never got anything but vendor fodder from that. Hell, I only got one piece of raid loot ever from Velah, and I can't count the times I have done VON6!

I figure VON 5 is good for the XP. and when you're level capped or too far above level, then the VONs are pretty much a waste.... unless Turbine finally decided to include raid loot again.

Man I wish I could get back all the time I spent on that chest, but then again an almost guaranteed +2 tome might have been worth it I only got to it once and then one of the ice flensers cast the ice on me and I died, so never got to open it, that was back when they didn't tether.

Naw we are talking about after you complete the raid and kill Velah (aka. the red dragon). It is the one where you have to jump off the bridge and aim for the bottom of the island, and make it through the small opening in the base just below the bridge, the drop rate for +2 tomes was confirmed at 75% before they erased the forum posts about 2 years ago.
