Game started before first reboot... now silence

Hello everyone,
I have downloaded the game using ddohigh.exe, then installed (XP SP3). First time all was OK, I updated the game and played a few dungeons just fine. I shut the machine down (no other Windows updates or stuff), and now the application is not starting anymore. It just runs for half a second and then silence... no windows on screen, no messages, nothing.

Things I have tried:
- reinstalling and selecting "repair": took a while but didn't help
- double-clicking on all the exe's in the DDO folder... unless there's an order I didn't try

Worst thing is, I don't have any *clue* of what the error is, since obviously it was working. If someone has any idea, please help me!
