Default Question about attack speed bonuses..

Curious about attack speed bonuses given from..
    Tempest, Haste, and Wind stance.

    haste 25%
Windstance not sure the % is probably 5 or 10.,
    Tempest - 10% "competence" bonus.
Competence bonus = just another bonus?

I know bonuses dont stack, but are these considered different or the same or some different?
And what exactly is a competence bonus, i dont play PnP , and I am fairly new to DDO.
    Thanks.

Unfortunately, I can't supply you with any info on those bonuses' types that you can't read yourself in their descriptions in the game or the Compendium. My Wizard even has Haste, and it doesn't list a type for its attack speed bonus (which may mean it's typeless).

As far as "what's a competence bonus"... Bonus types are mostly just words, really. Their names imply why you're getting the bonus, which adds to the flavor of the game, but bonuses could also be labeled with words like "orange" and "purple" and all the game rules would work the same. Dodge bonuses to AC are the only bonus type with a significant number of special rules attached. (The flavor that PnP tries to give to "competence bonuses" is that they should only apply to things that involve your training -- i.e. your level and skills. I personally think it's kind of a stretch to say that attack speed fits that definition, but again, mechanically, it works fine. All the rules do is look for matching words.)

By dividing bonuses into different types, the designers of 3rd Edition could strike a central road between the two extremes of "everything stacks" (which they found too strong) and "nothing stacks" (which was probably too weak, and also is rather bland).
