Question My 1st barb, need suggestion

Hi guys, after a few years the only class I did not run is Barbarian. Usualy all my toons can solo with ease, self buff and self heal. That's why I'm afraid runnin a barb cause I hate to be babysitted.

    Is is a good start?

    Dwarf
    18 STR
    20 CON
    and nothing elsewhere

Is it a good idea to put nothing in Wis?

2 handed great axe as weapon

Frienzed Berzerker III (in my opinion it's costly because of the IV damage boost) and by the way should I stay pure?

    3 skills: intim,jump and balance

    tx

Interesting that you're not taking THF until level 12. With the Frenzied Berserker's grazing hits proc, I think it may be nice to take THF sooner.

Nothing wrong with the concept at all.

Just be weary of the order of your feats.

You'll want to take IC: Slash as early as possible, and Power Attack as well. Toughness is highly important at lower levels as well. THF is good to take early, but I would save the later feats for later levels. I would not advise fenzying for a bit, so put off taking cleave.

tx for the reply I'll think about it, so with that affirmation it answer to me about cleave. I was wondering if I should take cleave before THF. I guess no and probably never.

I made a second attemp just to try before eating tomes

    Rerollsoon his her temp name

    Warforge instead
    18-8-18-8-12-6
    instead of dwarf
    18-8-20-8-8-6

more will save, sacrifice some hp, and sacrifice the axes enhancements for healer friendly

The WF in the end will deal more damage, but be harder to heal. For straight out DPS, go WF. But you sacrifice some survivability. Really, its up to you, neither will gimp you in the least.

Also, iirc, cleave is a pre-req to FB, so you have to take it.

You have Frenzied Berserker listed, but Cleave is a prereq for it.

I don't think the planner enforces the prereqs for any enhancements, at least not last time I used it. Not a bug, just not a feature.

The planner's a nice tool, but when thinking about build ideas now, I'll just use a simple .txt document to work everything out.

If you go with the WF, take adamantine body and swap it out for toughness once your barbarian DR overtakes your WF adamantine DR. The extra AC and Dr will help a lot for the first few levels...assuming you do not skip those first few, in which case, it won't matter.

Wink Improved Trip Barb FTW !!!

Many people have asked me about my 18/2 Barbarian-Fighter so here goes.

First off - Improved Trip is a 10 sec cooldown and +4 to your DC over reg trip, 15 sec cooldown, which is a big difference.

    http://i38.tinypic.com/2dannm0.jpg - 49 DC on Improved Trip

    http://i38.tinypic.com/vfw6x5.jpg - 45 DC on Stunning Blow

With a high DC on your improved trip you are basically able to trip almost anything that is able to be tripped. Stunning blow is decent but this toon is by far the most fun to play because if you have just a reg lvl 20 barb with GTHF, all you do is right click.. BORING !! Yes you do more damage with glancing blows but if you try this build and use vertigo and weighted items which you have to hotkey and switch out and then go back to your damage dealing weapon, it takes some skill and the payoff is huge !!

Its quite empowering to trip something and have it at your mercy !!!

    starting stats

STR - 18 - put all 5 attribute points into str by lvl 20
    DEX - 10
    CON - 19 - True Res
INT - 11 - Need 13 with +2 INT tome for 13 to take Combat Expertise & Improved Trip ! - If you don't have a +2 or +1 INT tome, then just go 13 INT to start and lower CON by 1.
    WIS - 6
    CHR - 6

Class - First lvl go fighter, then the rest is up to you. Make sure you take 18 lvls of Barbarian (just making sure!)

Race - Warforged !! - Warforged power attack 3 and Barbarian pwr attack 3 for the most damage possible !!
Alignment -Chaotic good (barbs can't be lawful!!)

skills - balance, tumble - rest is up to you

FEATS - Power Attack, Toughness, (Beserker Fury X2), Improved Trip, Stunning Blow, Improved Crit Slashing, TWF ,Cleave (need for Frenzy), and w/e feats you want !!

    ENHANCEMENTS -

    Barb Damage Boost IV
    Barb Sprint Boost I
    Barb Ext Rage III
    Barb Pwr Attack III
    Barb Pwr Rage IV
    Frenzied Berserker III
    Fighter Strategy Stunning Blow I
    Fighter Strategy Trip I
    Racial Toughness III
    Barb CON II
    Fighter STR I
    Barb Toughness II
    Warforged CON II
Warforged Healers Friend I - take early on .. =]
    Warforged Pwr Att III
    Warforged Tactics II

    ==========================================

This build has No AC at all !! You have to be able to move around a lot in circles while the cooldowns on your tactics resets.

This is NOT a starter build !! You will take too much damage if you don't know how to use the tactics and move.

Just always remember to "float like a butterfly" and carry 200 cure pots at all times !!

    ================================================== =======================

http://i37.tinypic.com/wmnm8z.jpg - Big help to bind your hotkeys !!!

I use R, T, Middle Mouse Button and I also have a foot pedal(not needed but fun !!)

Bind Improved Trip to your "R" key and Stunning Blow to your "T" key and you heal pots to you middle mouse button. This is up to you !! Binding improved trip to an easily hit key is the way to go !!

I have Stunning blow on my foot pedal and Frenzy 1-2 on the other foot pedal. Makes it easy !!

    http://www.pedalpax.com/ FTW !!

I still dont have all the STR gear yet.. No TOD ring or Knost Belt Combo and only a +3 STR tome so the DC's will go up within a month or two to over 50.

Frenzied need 4 damage bonus = 10 enhancements dam too

How about a barb custom without Frenzied? Is it fool to do this?

    FB is great DPS.

I'm not sure if you built him yet, but if you run with clerics, Dwarf is fine. If, though, you have a few sorcs or wizzys in guild that have reconstruct, WF is the best way to go for endgame.
