Obviously it's because no-one is taking this post seriously, because there is no serious answer. There is no "best class" or "best race" in DDO, if there were, everyone would be it. Now there are quite a few, better mixes, builds that are better at * then others, and builds that have more tricks up their sleeves.

But if you ask 10 different people of what is the best in general, you will get 10 different answers.

Can tank (as in drop the ball, hehe) and draw aggro better then anyone else.
Wields the almighty nerf bat, which all things MMO fear.
Can heal and hurt in the same action.
Can redirect aggro better then any wizard (the other dev did it, its not my department).
Can do more AOE damage then any other character possible by using something called the nuke nerf (see COH or SWG).

OP: Everyone knows that in DDO all pure class characters are gimp! You need to multiclass to reach the top of the heap! That is why I will let you in on a little secret. This secret is so powerful, and so insidious that I can only post in black text! You will need to highlight the rest of this post to see the most powerful build in DDO!

but in all seriousness. Start a warforged wizard. Among the best solo classes ive seen so far, still very much viable at endgame and much easier to build than a good battle cleric.. just max int and con and off you go.
If you want teh mostest powahfull uber class.. sorry man. just doesn't exist in this game. the dev's have done a good job of balancing all the classes for PvE and each has their strengths and weaknesses.

You can make it w/ 2 monk and 3 rogue for more sneak attack if you want
