Default Veteran level 4 start still has you going back to korthos for favor

the free level ups were designed so that you wouldn't have to do korthos... granted you still don't have to but its a good way to get favor (esp coin lords for the bag slot being the most useful item at any level)

im guessing almost everyone who does the level 4 advance will go back for some missed quest rewards and favor (i went back for +1d4 handwraps too)

so despite being able to skip the whole island there i am back with that annoying "oh no the suhaugin have found me" guy since they didn't provide korthos island favor

Isn't the Veteran Level designed for those who already have at least 1000 favor points on a character? How many people who have progressed a character that far even run Korthos with newly created toons? I'd imagine that most just pass a bunch of gold or equipment to their newly created toons and go straight to the main quests.

Besides, I don't think the intent of veteran level was to provide free favor (and ultimately TPs) to an account every time a new character was created.

Yes, you have to have 1000 favor on one character to use veteren status, but that does not affect the favor on any new characters. So, if you want your Coin Lord favor, you almost have to do Korthos Island anyways. I'm sure(to tired to do the math) you can probably get your CL favor elsewhere to get the rewards, but will take longer and you will most likely get it at a higher level.

    75 Favor=4th inventory slot
    150 Favor +Collapsed Portable Hole=5th inventory slot.

Don't know about the rest, but I can use that 4th slot as soon as I can get it, makes life that much easier, to where I can play the game, and not have to micro-manage my inventory all the time.

Most people will run Korthos for favor so to get the two extra inventory slots. Completionists might want to get full favor on an alt, too.

No, the intent of the Veteran Status is to allow player to skip an overly easy area that they have already mastered. As you indicated in your first paragraph, Korthos is incredibly easy and no players who's been around for a long time will find much enjoyment out of it because it's just too easy.

However, favor still encourage that undesirable situation: since I want the favor from those quests, I still have to run them.

A logical solution would be to give favor for all quests under level 4.

I wouldn't say ALL favor for the quests under 4th level, but maybe on normal or something, so you do have to incentive to run back out there but it is not quite as necessary.

The favor issue was the 1st thing i thought of when i saw this feature. You should just get the pack space so you can really skip this um stuff

Why should there be incentives to run a quest that offers you no challenge whatsoever?

    Default worthless

this feature is worthless to almost anyone

you can powerlevel to 4 in about 4 to 6 hours (faster for some)

you can buy a +20% xp potion at level 1 that lets you level faster

if Veteran status took you to level 10 or 12, that would be useful & would save some time because the grind starts at level 5 & goes to about 10/12 now

moreover, due to current end-game now being 20, starting out at level 15/16 would be useful

    level 4, what a joke

Well you also get TP for gaining favor. As a VIP I can go in on hard and then elite, so it is not as much of a grind.

I was mostly disappointed about not being able to pick my own set bonus that you would normally get from the dragon.

That would create a huge problem because favor is linked to TPs, unless they can set it up so the incremental favor TPs only start accumulating on "earned" favor and not "free" favor. Otherwise, people could just keep rolling new toons on veteran status to accumulate a bunch of TPs.

Point taken about the Coin Lord favor though. Another alternative I suppose would be to automatically give toons created under veteran status the 1st extra inventory slot and lower the favor requirement for the 2nd.

Right, but it's still nice to do Korthos as a level 4, after getting gear from the bank/mail in the harbor.

And especially with caster classes, it's nice to have the levels to run thru elite Korthos for favor. All in all, I like the system.

If I unlock veteren status, will all of my new characters start at 4th level or will I have a choice of whether to start them at 4th or 1st?

When you first log in, you start on an airship and can either level up one level at a time to fourth, or skip the whole thing 'like it was a bad dream...' and start at a level1 (I don't know if it's Korthos, sunny or snowy - I just did the vet thing )

Its no biggie to go back and zerg those kothos quests take only a little bit they almost seem to easy now even ww and tangleroot was a breeze to solo with my newly created 4th lvl monk, best money I have ever gotten the p's to spend for me, doing good in school does serve a purpose.

You can skip the levelling process and start at level one. I don't know where you wind up (snowy or sunny), but either way if you go to a tavern and /death before you bind, you wind up on the beach at Korthos snowyside.

I'm at lvl 3 and at about 57 favor. I have WW on normal and Durks on hard, the solo harbor quests except arachniphobia, the rest are Korthos on elite.

It is an easy way to get some favor to get that extra backpack slot.

Vetren status just makes it easiear to do Korthos elite, probably able to do it solo and not worry about getting a pug.

VIP doesn't have to grind as much as P2P or F2P since they have hard unlocked right away. If you find someone that has elite unlocked then it makes the grind easiear and faster.

Or, you can start out at level 4, and run Korthos quests on hard/elite for the favor even faster because it will be easier at level 4, plus you get XP for doing them which puts you close to 5 when you are done, or past level 5 if you are using the xp potion.

I don't really care if the Dev's offered us favor with the vet status or not. But it sure would be nice, since we're veterans and all, to be able to unlock elite difficulty right out of the gate.
