    Default Foray into Multiclassing

Hi there guys, Kinda new to the game but at the same time not. I started at launch but only played about 2 weeks so now I'm back to have a little fun. I'm attempting my first multiclasses since my last failed attempt about 3 and a half years ago. I don't think originally my WF Hexidecimal was supposed to be broken but not sure where I was planning on taking him as he's 2Cl/1Ft/1wiz. I think he was mostly going to use cleric spells for combat buffs, still trying to figure out if he's salvagable at all.

But anyway was really writing this about my new attempt. I'm making I guess a sorta cookie-cutter 6ra/12ft/2rog though interesting I didn't see any actual builds for it but I don't mind working most of it out for myself.

My main question is is there a specific order that I should take all the levels. I know rogue first but wasn't sure when I should take the second level. and is it ok to delay Tempest a little to get exotic Weapon Prof Kopesh which I'm intending on Dual Wielding or do you really have to get Tempest ASAP?

Thanks for any input in advance.
    Cain.

You want the free TWF feats from the ranger levels as early as possible on your character, so the best way to level up this char is rogue at lvl 1, then the 6 ranger levels from 2 to 7.

Then I would take 2 levels of fighter and the last rogue level at 10.

For allocating skill points if you focus on any rogue-only skills, save putting points in until your second level of rogue for most efficient skill point use. That's another reason it makes sense to wait at least 6 levels between rogue levels. That way you aren't blowing 2 skill points per point you put into skills like disable traps or UMD (if they are a not class skill) and can allocate more efficiently.

When you take the second level of rogue, just fill it up :-) The game saves unallocated point slots for you to be able to do this so if you don't put anything into disable trap for 6 levels, and you are focusing on disable, you can put all of your points into that skill that you get for your rogue level when you take your 2nd rogue level and "catch it up".

I made this mistake and wasted some skillpoints on my rogue/pally. Live and learn right?

I believe I wasted around 12 skill points. It's not a character breaker, but your character won't be as good as he could be since rogue gets the most skillpoints per level and you should use these for rogue class skills if you are focusing on them. If you were to take 3 levels of rogue you'd wait til level 12 to do the 3rd level of rogue, or depending on intelligence 14 or 12, since that affects the number of SP per rogue level and you want to base what levels you take rogue on how many SP per level (by extension your intelligence) he's getting.

Again, this depends on what skills you are focusing on... If they are non-rogue skills it doesn't matter as much.

This is another reason Dragavon is right for saying to wait for that second level of rogue.

It is possible to be an elite trapsmith or UMD master with this build if you handle your skillpoints right and get the right items.

Just a little tweak to what Dragavon is saying to get some extra mileage out of your rogue build ;-) UMD is the most useful skill in the game, with disable being a close second and they are rogue skills.

Figure out how many SP per level you get based on your intel and base what levels you take rogue off of that. Don't forget to recalculate if you get a +2 intelligence tome along the way.

So I made Cainnan once and realized at lvl 4 that I'd only put 14 into dex at the time thinking enhancements counted for feats. I later realized of course that they don't. So scratched him and rerolled Cainnan again.

I'm now posting my lvl 20 build though I've only just now hit lvl 2. As an explanation the stats are starting out the way they are because I'm using a +1 all tome at lvl 3 and calculated that to keep my Disable traps, Search, and UMD maxed for lvl 20 I would need 6 skillpoints for the fighter levels 11-20 so it required a 16 into to have that as a human fighter.

Any input is greatly appreciated as I felt ok with enhancements and feats early on but started to get kinda fuzzy with what I was doing later in the build. All comments as long as constructive are welcome. I have not really crafted any multi-class builds before this guy since DDO launched so I am willing to admit there are things I may have over or under valued.

    Thanks,
    Cain.

Well hopefully about 70 or so views and no replies means I've done a decent job and am kinda going down the right path. If not please correct me fast

p.s. Do most rogues take the enhancement lines for disable and search or rely on skill level + items + maybe skill boost? I only ask because I had some people tell me I wouldn't be able to do any traps or anything late game and as far as I can tell with Human Versatility maxed the only thing I don't have that a fuller specced rogue would is the specific skill enhancement lines.
