The item to start collecting is Large Devil Scales. That's the most difficult to acquire, so it will limit what you can make. (And some of them could be traded for whatever else you might need)
The most obvious suggestion for a cleric would be a clothing of +300 spellpoints and wisdom 6, optionally with conc opp mana income. A dagger with +9 wisdom might be nice for offensive casting.

Overall I'm finding most of the crafting info very confusing.
Also, I can not seem to find any of the items you mentioned on any sites.

I would recommend the Stone of Change - Eldritch Rituals Cookbook thread for everyone who are new for shroud / greensteel crafting. Just read the page one. DDOwiki also do a great job on greensteel.
I think it depend on how often you can gather your resource from shroud -- are you fairly new player and only got 1 or so character able to run shroud at the moment? If you do have a couple toons running shroud non-stop, and large ingredient / duo superme shard wasn't a big problem for you, then Enochroot is right, creating a Concordinate Opposition greensteel accessory was the way to go (and Encochroot's suggestion was a good example)Originally Posted by Enochroot

I would agree if you could deconstruct that later when you realize in fact you do want a dual shard version and now have 3 large scales, and have to decide if you want to get 2 more and replace the item you already made previously. You WILL eventually get there - set your sights high, or you will always regret it.

Once you are entering the phase of "you do have more ingredient than you could use", chance are you are close to the point that you will earn your first Cleansing Essence any time soon (hint, 20th shroud run as their first character). And you can always create a 2nd greensteel dual shard item as Neg/Pos/Pos Concordinant Oposition item with tier 1 immunity / Improved Elemental Energy / Greater Elemental Energy. Regret it or want to deconstruct it? Probably not -- unless you craft it on belt/necklace slot before mod 9 showing light on Lamannia.
Of course, if OP was a veteran and have loads of ingredient sitting on the large ingredient bag at their shared bank, then Concordinant Oposition item was probably the first choice

i read that ddowiki 2-3 times over and its sooooo extremely confusingly overly complex for an aspect of a game.
the process of making the greensteel base item should be more than halved... ingredients to materials to base item amounting to like 12 unique items that may or may not be a part of it huh?
end results should be some kind of drop down list you pick at the start so it guides you (lets face it ... theres no secrets in an mmo and no1 in the right mind will randomly try out results outside of a test server)
not 1 but 4 eldrich devices what?
uncharged... charged... power level.... small medium large fries...
im all for customisation but this is over the top...
elderscrolls had it good... soulstone + item = select your powerups

But aye, save your necklace and belt (from greensteel crafting) by all mean, unless you just craft them as swapable clicky ( i.e. haste, displacement, wave of exhaustion )

Here's a really stupid question. If I'm level 20, what's the point to any of this crafting? To get better gear? Why?

some people play to experience the content ... ie: experience the quests and every aspect of the game at least once (think single player game where you do everything possible)
others play to make their char the best it can be ... these are the people with +4 tomes and craftables
level 20 might be the level cap but if you have all that extra gear you are more powerful than the average level 20 letting you do runs easier (new, old and future)
On my Cleric I have crafted
Cloak EP(EP) 10hp/50sp/20hp - Heavy Fortification +5 Protection - 2x Stoneskin Clickies
Goggles PN(PN) Healing Lore/Proof against Fear and poison/100sp - concordant opposition & +6wis
(I have the VOD Bracers for archmagi(200sp), and better is out there so the Wiz6 was kind of useless..)
Weapon EEE Wis+6, exceptional Wis +1 and Exceptional Wis+2 - 2x clickies summon earth ele.
This combination has given me some great coverage and enhancements in my opinion.
+30hp / +150sp / +9wis / Heavy fort and +5 prot
Undispellable Permanent immunity to fear - allways good on a cleric who can't cast/clickie while feared.
Summon Earth elemental and stoneskin clickies allways useful.
Concordant opposition sp/hp recovery-minor benefit (does not proc a lot, but better than nothing)
May change up the shroud weapon at some point(3xair maybe) with ring crafting from TOD but until then....
