1) How many levels can a party be apart and still group and get XP in a dungeon?

3) Where do I find a scroll for the 3rd level wizard spell, Chain Missles? Can't seem to locate it at any of the shops.

The max spread is 4. I use my fingers. a lvl1 can group with a lvl4 (1, 2, 3, 4) but not a lvl5 and still receive max xp. A 7 can group with a 10 (7, 8, 9, 10) but not an 11. Etc..

As long as the entire party is within the level range of the outdoor area, it doesn't matter what the spread is. Water works is lvls 1-5, You can have lvl1s, and lvl5s in the same group in the Water works area without taking a hit. You can find the lvl range of an outdoor area by looking at your quest journal. Find and explorer, slayer, or rare outdoor quest in the journal. The level range is located in the details of the quest.

3) Where do I find a scroll for the 3rd level wizard spell, Chain Missles? Can't seem to locate it at any of the shops.

Level 3 arcane scrolls are found in the Portable Hole (only accesible through a teleport or greater teleport spell) and in House P's scroll shop. Some arcane scrolls can be found in the House J magic shop. Each House shop specializes in certain levels for arcane spells. The Portable Hole has all scrolls that can be purchased.

Not all scrolls are for sale at a vendor. I have not been able to find many of the newest spells introduced to DDO recently (e.g. electric loop, and any of the level 9 spells) at a vendor. These must drop from chests, and many are for sale at the auction house.

Also, you get reduced XP if you do a quest with someone higher than the quest level, or more XP if you do a quest with everyone lower than the quest level.

Is there a point where you get 0 Xp for doing an quest or adventure area for being too high lvl is that 4 as well? so a lvl 12 would get 0 xp for a 4-7 adventure area?

I've gone back and done korthos quests on elite for favor at level 7 or 8 and still got over 1000XP with the first time bonus, even though it says -99% XP.

I think the limit is 5 or 6 levels over the quest level, which will give you the NO XP warning. Keep in mind, if you are running a level 5 quest on elite, that makes it a level 7 quest.

[COLOR="red"]yes you can get to a point where you get 0 xp. Not sure exactly how many levels above the quest you have to have to get 0 xp, though. As far as Explorer areas, they recenlty changed it to where even folks way hight then the area lvl range still get some piddling amount of xp, I think [COLOR="Red"]

For the explorer area, if you have a person in the group that is above the level for the area that person will stop anyone who is in the level range from getting XP. An error message will come up and say that someone is to ablove the level for the area and is preventing you from advancing.

I've seen it not give XP to people who are below level too. The bath spa haven place for example, I was out there on my level 8, and a friend brought his level 5 out there and got no credit for any kills.

You have to distinguish between Adventure Areas (e.g. Ataraxia's Haven, Gianthold, Cerulean Hills) and actual quest instances (e.g. Bringing the Light).

In the Adventure Areas, if anyone enters the area who is higher than the allowed level, then no one in the party can complete any of the objectives (Slayer, Explorer, I'm not sure about Rares). You get a message that says something about not being able to advance.

In actual quests, you can still get XP for the quest if someone is higher level than the quest, but the amount of XP drops for everyone in the party. At some point (I don't know how which), if the character is too high level, nobody gets any XP. So you can't have a level 20 character run a level 1 character through a level 6 quest, and have the level 1 character get any XP. I have seen many PUG LFM's where one character is significantly higher level than the quest. I hope everyone else in that PUG realizes that they are not going to get much XP.

Note that this only happens if the high level character actually enters the quest. You can bring a high level character into the party in order to have the option of opening the quest on elite, and lose no XP as long as that character does not actually enter the quest.

I never thought about having them open the quest on elite but not actually being on it.. But I was also just thinking about going back to solo quests for favor when Im way over leveled. I've held off popping Heidiann to 9 because there are too many lvl 4-5 quests she hasn't got the elite favor on them yet.

I found a Chain Missiles scroll in a dungeon chest (probably waterworks quests) -- I remember it stood out in my mind because I hadn't seen that one in scroll shop.
