Veterans leveling toons in 8 to 14 range READ THIS

Veterans,

Soloing becomes more difficult and costly at levels 8-16 effectively.

On average I'd say that my PUG experience in this level range has been less than 30% positive. A Xorian hard run with 10-12's last night alone cost me 10 RD scrolls, 25 heal scrolls, countless pots, and I can honestly say that only one other player in the party was worth grouping with again. I was just grateful to get the completion.

So, as a solution, if you are interested in grouping with veteran players to run quests in the range from 8 to 14 on hard/elite in order to max XP and Favor, please post your toons using the following format. Level range should be 8 to 16. I will update this list daily and sort the list by level and class for ease of lookup. Anyone on this list should use it to contact others in game by putting VETERANS ONLY in an LFM or sending a tell to anyone on this list that says "vets only group forming, you interested?"

Please use commas to separate and use standard class names so that I can export to Excel and quickly sort the list before reposting.

I will put any toons on this list in my friends list so that I can track their level progression and monitor who is on-line. Should help increase the percentage of players in my pugs that don't suck. I'm open for suggestions to improve this process as well. Let me know.

Settle down there big guy. I too play on Sarlona and have had a huge amount (around 60%) of my groups in this range kill me because of lack of manners and just plain poor play. I can forgive poor play, everyone has to learn, but poor manners I cant forgive. People leaving in mid group, zerging when they have no business zerging, etc., etc.



I think an idea like this is good, if not abused or misused, as there are some great F2P players out there, unfortunatley this group, in my experiences, is low in number. It will lower my bad groups and hopefully make my game more enjoyable. I will not however give up on our new friends, I hope to be able ot group with them and help them enjoy our community as well. Just not at the expense of my time or enjoyment.

Wait, this isn't just happening on Argo? I was wondering if the sudden massive decrease in the quality and quantity of groups in that range was an isolated thing... this even happens in the P2P areas, so I don't think it can be fully pinned on the 'froobs'.

Not knowing the quest I could understand, and wouldn't be the slightest bit mad about. After all I was there myself not too long ago, and still am for some content. But things like arcanes not hasting and firewalling, divines not making use of their spells because they'd rather melee, and not even that well, melee guys running 5 screens ahead of everyone else... That sort of thing used to stop when you hit this range and the game got more serious, now it doesn't. End result is 30 minute quests take 2 hours and up. That's just stupid. Way I see it, know what to do or be willing to listen to those that do. That's my stance.

I don't have any Sarlona characters, so I will leave it at that.

Not on your server and so my POV may not mean much.

IMO this is an issue that we saw coming. The normal response was that we'd need to be patient and teach the new player base. It is, however, a bit more complex than that in reality because the new player base seldom shows interest in learning.

The advent of vet only groups is bound to occur -- for better or for worse.

Using the forums to establish a vet's list seems logical as join date will, in most instances, reflect experience with the game. Some may slip thru who joined and then took extremely long breaks. But, generally, it should be accurate.

Whether that is wise, fair or even within the guidelines for forum use I don't know.

Cry me a river? Seriously bud, 4/5 pugs before F2P were painful in that level range (on Sarlona also). So the range might be 9/10 now It's not like F2P suddenly made the experience night and day worse.

I read all the posts to date on this topic and want to briefly chime in.
I think first of all that anyone posting here has the right to say what they want within the rules of the forum. I also think I see the point regarding how groups have become and sure, havent we all had a group like that where you have maybe limmited time, it should be satrait forward and you get tied up with people who you wish had more xp in DDO then they do. Sure we have almost all been there...
At the same time I think making a list of people who are vetrens is a bit over the top (like Spyder said.)
The Op makes a point on what we put in our LFG saying it may be a good idea to put "vetrens only". I think it is always a good idea putting in your LFG exactly what you expect from those joining your group. We were all new players at one time regardles of if it was mod 9 or beta so I dont think anyone was being unsympothetic, but at the same time I see where some can feel it was disingenious.
We all play this game to have FUN and if your not enjoying the game walk away or quit. To me fun may be going slow and letting new players see the quest. the next guy may be in a hurry and wan tthe xp to rush to the next quest to level the character, and thats fine too. In the end we all find the joy in different ways and to ensure others dont enfrindge on your enjoyment we will all need to have more patience with new players and more importantly use good communication in with them (IE LFG message) so that no one is put out and having a bad time.

Its a interesting topic and enjoy reading the posts on this. I know now that I have read this I will tend put more info in the LFG as to what is expected (with me I hate it when peeps dont talk or don't have a mic.)
