Lightbulb Veterans leveling toons in 8 to 14 range READ THIS

    Veterans,

Soloing becomes more difficult and costly at levels 8-16 effectively.

On average I'd say that my PUG experience in this level range has been less than 30% positive. A Xorian hard run with 10-12's last night alone cost me 10 RD scrolls, 25 heal scrolls, countless pots, and I can honestly say that only one other player in the party was worth grouping with again. I was just grateful to get the completion.

So, as a solution, if you are interested in grouping with veteran players to run quests in the range from 8 to 14 on hard/elite in order to max XP and Favor, please post your toons using the following format. Level range should be 8 to 16. I will update this list daily and sort the list by level and class for ease of lookup. Anyone on this list should use it to contact others in game by putting VETERANS ONLY in an LFM or sending a tell to anyone on this list that says "vets only group forming, you interested?"

    Rrendsoul, Favored Soul, 12
    Rrendage, Fighter, 12
    Rrendtron, Barbarian, 11
    Rrendfu, Monk, 10

Please use commas to separate and use standard class names so that I can export to Excel and quickly sort the list before reposting.

I will put any toons on this list in my friends list so that I can track their level progression and monitor who is on-line. Should help increase the percentage of players in my pugs that don't suck. I'm open for suggestions to improve this process as well. Let me know.

Don't they have to be at least Premium to post anywhere but the Free Player forums?

Not on your server and so my POV may not mean much.

IMO this is an issue that we saw coming. The normal response was that we'd need to be patient and teach the new player base. It is, however, a bit more complex than that in reality because the new player base seldom shows interest in learning.

The advent of vet only groups is bound to occur -- for better or for worse.

Using the forums to establish a vet's list seems logical as join date will, in most instances, reflect experience with the game. Some may slip thru who joined and then took extremely long breaks. But, generally, it should be accurate.

Whether that is wise, fair or even within the guidelines for forum use I don't know.

OP, Please do not add any of the characters listed in my sig, blacklist them as a matter of fact.
I believe in mind over matter. If I don't mind, it doesn't matter.

    Sarlona! Yep, back again.

Cry me a river? Seriously bud, 4/5 pugs before F2P were painful in that level range (on Sarlona also). So the range might be 9/10 now It's not like F2P suddenly made the experience night and day worse.

Whatever I think of the OP's post aside, I have to point out you failed to either read or understand the OPs instructions on posting your character information....which I am pretty sure will automatically disqualify you

    Epic fail.

Someone resorting to actually posting such shenanigans would never survive on Thelanis.

Sadly the OP's opinion is just that......an opinion.
I dont have alot of time playing DDO but I have 6+ yrs of playing MMO's and can say that in the other game I played there were more Veteran "SCRUBS" then new player ones. Your expierence on your recent PuGs does not reflect true for all new players wanting to play DDO, some of us actually know what it means to be on a team, and contribute to that team. I know my role and what my characters role is on a team, whether i'm playing my "TrapMonkey" or DPS or support. There is this nifty little feature the game offers thats called "freinds", use it.
That way you know who you're teaming with and don't have to worry about the INSANE amounts of flow you'll be spending on pots, scrolls and wands................oh wait maybe you will.

rrend may be taking this to a slight extreme but anyone saying this isnt a valid opinion is jsut in denial. ive run into 5 new casters since the mod went live that didnt have firewall or haste. so when ya try to be helpful and point out the importance of those 2 spells in the majority of content they get ****y and complain about you being elitist. the quality of pugs has gone downhill. but the simple solution to this is to group with your friends/guilds as much as possible and when you do pug be selective of which guilds/persons you group with. im starting to see a frightening number of 16 sorc/1ftr/1barb type builds hitting the hgih levels that are really really in need of rerolls.

I dont see whats wrong with a player looking to find other vets to play with. I also note that the OP wasn't trying to exclude new players entirely, he was just trying to "increase the percentage" of vets in his groups... something I think is a good idea. It didnt sound to me like the OP was trying to preclude all new people from joining his groups. Having a couple new players in any group is a good thing, as it allows new players to learn, and for vets to meet new people. Having all new players and just 1 vet can be a frustrating experience... lets face it, nobody who has run Xorian 100 times wants to spend an hour trying to get through it.

Also, I don't think that using the forums for this sort of thing will be that successful... plus, you will get alot of hate from the people who think you are anti-newbie. I would suggest creating a chat channel, and inviting people to join it by pm. You might want to contact officers of other guilds that you like, and ask them to advertise to their members.

There's nothing wrong with posting that you're looking for a nice bunch of veterans for a static group. Unfortunately that's not what the OP did.. he decided to start with a laundry list of complaints and then build a clique.. if the focus rea,lly was on mutual fun - hey, maybe the start of a kick-ass new guild - and not on exclusionary hate, the post would have been very different.

Perhaps he is looking for vets who have had the same experience? There are different ways to skin a cat. Oh wait, I can't say that, I might offend cat lovers

So many trolls in this thread. The OP is just looking for like-minded players who want to power level without dealing with all of the newbies currently in the game. To each his own. I don't understand how other people in this thread think it's ok to push their "morales" onto another player, and basically dictate how a person spends his time in game.

Well I can totally understand the OPs point of view. Pug scene on Sarlona is whacked, as Im sure it is on every server. Froobs are obsessed with running content above their levels on elite for the favor even though their skills and character are clearly not up to the task. They can barely manage on normal/hard.

That said Im not advocating any sort of alienation of new players. They need to play, grow stronger and learn the game like we did. But it does seem that the integration process is going to take alot longer than expected. In fact, with this new F2P model we may be looking at a permanent stream of noobs to interact with. So it is probably in everyones best interests to just find a way to adapt.

I have to agree a bit with Rend. The short experience i have had with Sarlona pugs had not at all been positive. Pugs on Cannith for the most part have been a much, much more pleasant experience.
