I think piles of us players have wanted this for a long time.
ANYTHING would be nice. Light blue for us, White for them.
Whatever! Just a slight difference would be nice.
Also, Firewall could use slightly different coloration or animation or something to show unfriendly fire so to speak!

They could always give the mobs back the original blade barrier. That sucker HURT. There is no way you'd mistake it for one of "ours" as it were.

When you notice your hit points disappearing, that means it's their Blade Barrier.

    Same as firewall.

You know when people complain about the AI not being smart enough to get out of the BB and FW I have to chuckle at the number of times I've seen people (not that I"d ever do it ) standing in THEIR firewall fighting or running through THEIR BB repeatedly to kill something.

Maybe we need to work on the HI as well as the AI.

Unless I'm playing a cleric, I don't pay attention to hit points.

Then listen to the cleric, he will either scream, "That's not my blade barrier" or "Get the **** out of the blade barrier!" I can attest to this from personal experience. I seem to be "HP bar blind".

If you start making them different colors, what's to keep the devs from adding a little color avoidance system to mob AI. I mean fair is fair, if we can see the different color and avoid it, so can they.

    Leave it as it is.

Same goes for wall of fire. Me personally as an opposing caster who did not care about his minions would make sure that my spells looked like my opponents and then place them right on top of the other guys, that way heros who want to hide in friendly spells that are not damaging them would actually have to come out and fight

I say "Not my blade barrier" once. If someone is too oblivious to quit standing in it, too bad for them. I'll throw heals to the people smart enough to get out first.

When you are involved with a mob 'fire' you get a 'fire icon' in your buff list that lets you know your toes are smokin...BB has no such acknowledgement other than being cut ribbon-style...and any AI that has the sense to cast a spell should have sense to avoid said spell. I'm for a smarter and more intuitive game at any opportunity.

Voice chat is wonderful. I really like the fact that is added by default on DDO.

Much easier to say Unfriendly Firewall than to try to type it.

Or, like i friend of mine said: F#@&%ing Mo$#^@& Blade barriers are NOT MINE! Get the *#@$ away from them!

It did kill someone out there laughing, but it did quickly get the point across.

Id rather it is kept the way it is. If its easier for us to differentiate, it should be easier to the mobs to differentiate too. The only thing i would really like is that taking 0 damage from a firewall ( due to protection spells ) would actually show up on your screen - with blade barriers it is easy enough for them to bypass all you DR, but damage that goes to temporary anti-fire HP is not shown.

EDIT: Actually, one change - Give us a icon for seeing we are taking damage from a unfriendly blade barrier, just like we get one from unfriendly firewall.

*snickers* blade barrier is not a Wall of Fire. You DON'T stop drop and roll. Stay still (if you can. Comets falling on your head tend to make you want to move fast.) and you won't take damage from it.

Maybe enemy BB could be re-coded to use the DQ's moving BB thingy? Color changing may be easier, I dunno, just a suggestion.

Wasn't there a feat in PnP that allowed you to change how your spells looked. Otherwise you are right magic is magic and all spells are the same.

People should just be thankful that they are not getting damaged by friendly spells, which would never happen in PnP.

Voice chat - enabled by DEFAULT now for all players, even if they don't use a mic. They should be able to hear you.

BB vs. BB - if they're going to toss one on top of yours, it's them being smart. How about use the different strategy of if you know you're going into a quest / mob that is known to toss BB out there, DON'T TOSS YOUR OWN.
