as a pure rogue you should never miss a trap disable or anything rogue related.

    here's what can help.

make sure you ONLY have +5 thieves tools in your pack

    MAX your skills in:
    -Disable Device
    -Open Lock
    -Search
-Spot (if you want, i don't though)

make sure when you go to utilize a certain skill you are wearing a skill boosting item:

if you are lvl 9, wear a +7 (i think that's the ml9 item) disable device item when trying to disable a trap.

drink a heroism potion if you want, that's another +2 to ALL skills.

My rogue only started with a 12 int and he does all that easy.

If you need I can send you some +5 thieves tools to get you started, IF you are on the khyber server

hope this helps bud. welcome to the game.

The difference is likely to be gear, but a drow or elf would have racial advantages to spot, and search skills. Search is the skill where most rogues fail.

if you can find the trap, chances are you can disable it.

Ugh... most pure rogues I know don't even worry with traps. Leave it to the splashes... do something the splashes can't... like put out mind-numbing dps against non-fortified monsters.

any rogue that can't do traps is a failure. it requires so little. (they don't need to focus on it, but they need to be able to do it, it's like a battle cleric that doesn't carry the heal spell, they aren't a healer, but they still should be able to do if a sh*ts storm comes.)

my kensei acrobat rogue does traps just fine and i don't even work at it. i can do every trap in the game on elite.

even better: my buddy's 18 barb 2 rogue can do every trap in the game, on elite, except cabal on elite. has been that way since lvl 15 for him.

Well I have a 2rog 8wiz not even with plus 1 tools and I only have plus five items I can get just as high as a pure rog. I can out do them with my own buffs. Just because your a pure rog doesn't mean your going to be better then a cross class. Most people who have been playing awhile like a few things. They want survive ability, self heal, and be able to solo. With 2rog you get evasion. You also get extra skills you can have sneak attack damage for melée and trap monkey skills can solo most quests

    grab some situational Skill Items

at level 11 you should have +10 Skill Gear

Goggles Rings and Gloves are your most likely switches. Just create hot keys to swap items when you need them

    +1 Rapier for 1-6 +7 damage (Drow enhancement +4 from Str..dex build)
So an average of 10 or 11 on a non crit....we'll say 10.

9D6+9 SA damage. Lets say 5 dice roll threes and 4 roll fours.
So an average of 31 +9 =40 pts for SA damage.

Oh, and I just got those Tharnes goggles so add +8

Hmmm...we got 10+40+8 for an average of 58 pts of damage on a noncrit SA.
Add 1 pt of Con from my W/P rapier.
Add 2 Pts of Str damage from Crippling Strike.

And thats a conservative average estimate.

Oh, and I crit on a 15-20....so 1/4 of the time.
And I'm an Asassin, and my off hand weps a seeker +6.

Oh yeah! I have an off hand wep! that is almost as good!

I say let them disable all the traps they want.

btw, the key to getting constant SAs is switching targets rapidly, and hitting diplomacy when you get agro.
