They are masters of the ancient skill "Stick Sharp Pointy Things into Soft Squishy Things that Scream and Bleed"

I assume that everyting in the game can kill. Thanks for clarifying that. I didn't want to be offensive to the players in the game.

I saw another thread about how hard it can be to get a group with a rogue. Personally, I wouldn't consider a group complete without one if the rogue(and everyone else) allows them to use all their skills.
Disappointed and without trust in the powers that be.

It would probably be more annoying and cause the ability to be used less than it should have been.

there would be very little (to no) point to Search if Spot did the same thing only with a slightly higher DC... Especially since Spot does other things as well

    Did you mean newb?

Others want a cleric so they can get their healing spells. Most just want you to do only that. Does that make them noobs too? I have LFM for a rogue for their skills. Is this a bad thing to do? Is this insulting to them? I'm not trying to do that in game if those are the cases.

I am just curious about that statement.
I wouldn't be insulted if someone invited my trap monkey to a group just to disarm traps, open locks, etc.

Just don't be surprised when I top the kill count. :P (Provided we're not fighting undead ).

I pretty much agree with this statement.

Does it boil my blood when a splash goes about disabling in a group with my pure rogue? No not really. A nice/unknowledgable person might just leave the trap duty to a pure rogue thinking thats all their good for. My assassin knows better of course. I enjoy doing the traps but if a splash wants to take a crack at it Im all for that unless its a mission critical trap then Ill generally speak up.

However, if youre a splash and you try the trap ... be sure you can do it or I will have to teabag you if you go down

This is about the worst piece of advice you can give new players and will certainly get someone killed tonight.

If you re-read my comment, I said both spot and search skill. This would make it so that a character willing to invest in rogue skills would get a perk. Not just those characters that invested in only search (like splash builds).

Bah... i though you meant removing idiots, not traps... could have found yet another use for the Rogue.

It's all about the twink. Make a rogue when you get rich and you'll see the difference.

    +1 Rapier for 1-6 +7 damage (Drow enhancement +4 from Str..dex build)
So an average of 10 or 11 on a non crit....we'll say 10.

9D6+9 SA damage. Lets say 5 dice roll threes and 4 roll fours.
So an average of 31 +9 =40 pts for SA damage.

Oh, and I just got those Tharnes goggles so add +8

Hmmm...we got 10+40+8 for an average of 58 pts of damage on a noncrit SA.
Add 1 pt of Con from my W/P rapier.
Add 2 Pts of Str damage from Crippling Strike.

And thats a conservative average estimate.

Oh, and I crit on a 15-20....so 1/4 of the time.
And I'm an Asassin, and my off hand weps a seeker +6.

Oh yeah! I have an off hand wep! that is almost as good!

I say let them disable all the traps they want.

btw, the key to getting constant SAs is switching targets rapidly, and hitting diplomacy when you get agro.

    They make Disruptors for that.

And the devs did a great job of making almost every undead heavy quest loaded with traps.

But yeah, it's real disappointing to go from super to wimpy.

    Undead are a Rogue's Kryptonite.

For my first rogue, I used to get annoyed by the lvl 1 rogue lvl 8 wizzie running around and doing the traps... now the only time I get bothered by it is if they repeatedly blow-up the boxes. It is just less for me to have to deal with, and I put my sneak attack to better use, outkilling the barb (which usually annoyes the Barb)

That's what the spot skill is. If it's high enough then it will find a
door, trap, hidden enemy so that's why that doesn't work
