    Default Rogue2/Ranger6 - now what?

    Hi all,

For my first character I decided to go 2 levels of Rogue and then 6 levels of Ranger. My character is a TWF Elf, specialized in Scimitars (Valenar Ele Melee) at the moment.
Starting stats were 16-16-12-10-12-8 (probably too low CON, but I am new ).

    Feats so far are:

    Dodge
    Mobility
    Spring Attack

so I could get Tempest / Improved TWF.

Now my original plan was to go Fighter at level 9, so I could create a 2Rogue/6Ranger/12Fighter character. But lately I am in doubt if I shouldn't go Barbarian instead of Fighter at level 9.

Can anyone give me reasons why I should go Fighter or Barbarian, and what the smart choice is for my character?
    Many thanks in advance!

Anyone who can give some advice? Other options I start to see is going back to Rogue, creating a 14Rog/6Ranger character - or taking Monk, creating 2Rog/6Ranger/12Monk.

Are these options viable at all?

    Thanks .

Any of those paths is workable. As a new player I would recommend fighter or barb rather than monk, but if you think you can handle monk then go right ahead. Just keep in mind that as a monk, you would have to give up your scimitars to take advantage of what monk offers after the first couple levels.

Fighter is nice because it would give you 7 extra feats so you have more options to play with. Barb would work too, but keep in mind that rage duration is dependent on your con score, not your barb level, so you would have shorter than average rages. But overall that wouldn't really be a problem. It's unfortunate not to take barb to 18 though, because you get another +1 crit multiplier and death frenzy on top of that. But you would still deal excellent dps, and being raged would help boost your hp.

Basically, either fighter or barb is a good path. Monk could be if you have things planned properly. Though actually, your alignment will help dictate your choice there. If you are lawful, you cannot take any barb levels. If you are not lawful, you cannot take any monk levels.

First I would trade in 1 of the rogue levels for monk. Then I would take the rest in ranger.

You have some good options. You could go 12 levels of fighter, and you tier 2 fighter prestige enhancements unlocked along with evasion and tempest.

You could could for 13 levels of rogue, getting more sneak attacks in than the pure rogue from tempest, and having 2 rogue feats(improved evasion/crippling strike?). The 7th level of ranger/14th of level of rogue don't really add anything, so you could add a level of monk for more ac (if lawful), a level of fighter for a free feat, or a level of barbarian(if not lawful) for 10% movement and a weak/short duration rage.

Thanks for the advice so far . I am almost certain now to go 1?/6Ranger/13Rogue. Just in doubt about taking that 1 level of Fighter or Monk. I think feat-wise it won't make much of a difference, just the Wisdom AC bonus will. But to have that, I can't wear any armor, correct? So is no armor + wisdom AC bonus > light armor? Or do I start wearing armored barcers?

For the monk level to be worthwhile you need a few items.

Icy Raiment and +8 AC bracers are good. Tho I would settle for the +6 bonus on the Tharne set from the VoD raid, much better for a rogue imo.

    I have an ooman rogue 13 / ranger 6 / monk 1, he has a standing beholder-proof AC of 60 now.

His default gear to get that AC is:
    2 radiance rapiers (+4 insight, +2 dex)
    Tharne bracers
    Icy raiment
    Mineral II cloak
    Chattering ring
