I just made a character on my bandmates account....
    OMG it is very cool.

    Might distract me from DDO...

Thanks for telling me that. I am hoping the new update with all the undead adds a bit more. Who knows. It is way fun so far, but i can see it getting old.

Id adopt a wait and watch policy. Cryptic really borked their last superhero game.
Jack "Statesman" Emmert is still lead designer I think and his idea of a "Super hero" doesnt match anyone else's. I was fully gun ho about trying Champions until I found out cryptic got their mitts on it. One thing I will give to em, character creation is a blast. If they model it even remotely like COH, getting to max level will be easy as sin, then you will have a ton of purely cosmetic things to do, or start on alts.

Interesting. My friend played COH and says this one is better already. I am just in Canada right now fighting zombies or something...
like low level ddo... kinda made me smile.

I played COH from the opening day til about issue 6. Issue 6 was the death blow for me and many others. ED or Enhancement diversification was Jack's idea of how to bring about his "Vision" of what a super hero should be, 1 hero equals 3 minions. Alot of nerfing was done in issue 5 and then the coupe de grace was performed in issue 6. Statesman reply to the MASSIVE outcry, this is my vision and my game, deal with it.

All I am advising, becareful of investing time and money in it.

Not even if they paid me, character creation is very cool but game play for me is MEH... at least this feels a little like playing dnd that game feels zero like playing champions to me. and the constant nerfs forget about it I already mailed it to my nephews to play if they so desire. so glad I didnt give into temptation and buy a lifetime sub.

Could argue this point. Just like here the level of tatics used is completly player based.

The interaction between players is limited but that can be fixed. Well, made easier but considering they are spending all their time right now getting rid of bugs/writeing patches and basically trying to get it right instead of waiting months to fix something gotta say im impressed. This one plays alot better than CoH imo.

Well, you gotta remember that CoH was Jacks first time as lead and he openly admitts that he learned alot about what not to do.

Personally I find it a better game than DDO right now, for me anyway. I say your not takeing any more of a gamble investing money and time into it than your are investing money and time here. Games are goona change and eventually they die, big f-ing suprise.

I will say I am not fully impressed with combat yet, not like the interactive feeling [read. Arcade] I get from DDO.

Change is one thing, telling your player base to basically **** off because its your game, thats just bad business. As to the gamble, turbine has never burned me or just blatantly blew me off due to ego. Cryptic did. I wouldn't give them more of my money for any reason.

Bottom line, I think for beign fairly new it's a solid game that anyone who likes the super-hero setting or just needs a break from DDO should definatly take a look at.

just to clarify. I'm not referring to Player interaction... I mean combat interaction. You shoot you hit. movement matters very little within the context of a combat except in broad terms... ie running away. It just feels very button oriented. I know effectively thats what DDO is too... but DDO combat feels more alive, organic and interesting. I think something in between would be a good mix... Maybe Star Wars: Old Republic will fill that bill

Then the only real difference I see is with ranged comabt (meat-seeking missles). However, the addition of being able to block while moveing instead of just being a stationay bunker is a decent trade-off imo. As for running away it completly depends on your power set. Some powers are designed to create distance for a ranged attack/excape (can't remember the name but it's in the munitions set and there may be more).

Since AC doesn't exist in Champions and Dodge% doesn't exist in DDO i think these two kinda cancel each other out since they do pretty much the same thing just in different ways.

I'm just gonna go with I don't have the same sense of combat in CO that I do with DDO. Combat in CO feels mechanical; while DDO Combat feels more dynamic and interesting. (to me)

I got this game a couple weeks ago, Havent Installed it yet. I Installed and played EVE Online first, Was very disapointed with that game . . I have heard Mixed things about Champions but im sure I will like it. Alot of the people here have very bias opinions imo, They are way to stuck on DDO that everything else gets compared and picked apart by it. DDO is a great game yes, But just because Champions doesnt play out the same doesnt mean it isnt/wont be a great game either.

I am at what I expect to be the end of the chapter I am on. I really wish building a party was easy. I think everyone is there for PvP since that is all people want to do when they talk to another player.

The interface is a bit... blah but simple and shortcut keys are nice and auto mapped for you it appears.
I think I might have to use a controller to get into the combat.

I will say the Skelly archers have NOTHING on the zombies in CO. I will fly to near the other side of the map and 2or 3 of them are tagging me with bits of stuff with accuracy that denies logic.

The worse is they do not often run to me to throw or to keep in range.
Sure I am a HUGE metal purple thing in the sky of white... but they are ZOMBIES!

This is what i was referring to as meat-seeking missles. If you tryign to get away from those kind of attacks my suggestion would be fly straight up to creat the most distance adn possibly out run the attack. You can also block while flying to minimize the dmg.

Solid my ass. They nerfed the EVERY LIVING POWER out of the system on DAY 1. First Day, release day. It went from being known as Champions Online to be Sidekicks Online in the matter of 3 days. They steadly nerfed and utterly changed game play, screwed up HUGELY on the XP, and then messed up resources.

Not to mention they break, fix, and break missions over and over and over. People complain about QA here, but cryptic could learn how to handle patches honestly. Their QA is 10 times worse.

Solid.. yeah. Wait for next year for it to be solidified into something more than jelly.

yes, I am letting it sit and wait for Bloodmoon. Maybe by then they'll have fixed their client GUI such that it isn't so clunky, actually active to button presses without a half second delay. yes, a half second. The last I tried I could outtype it and over flow the buffer and I am NOT the fastest typist by any means.

And yet your still here considering DDO has several of the same problems that you are *****ing about here. "They steadly nerfed and utterly changed game play, screwed up HUGELY on the XP" sounds alot like when they "adjusted" xp in several areas here and have changed how everything works from feats and items to skills and basic comabt when ever they feel like it.

If your had that much problem with the "delays" you always are complaining maybe you should try and change your computer settings. I had the exact same problems so I played with all the graphics till I got it worked out. Ohh thats right *****ing and complaining about something instead of actually trying to fix it works so much better.
