Default Looking for a mature, international guild (and server)

    Hi there,

just downloaded the client, didn't even roll a char on any server yet.

I'm looking for a mature and cosmopolitan community, that may be interested in taking in a casual player, unconstrained RPer and absolute newbie as far as DDO goes.
A bit more about me: I'm European, over 30 years old, married, father of 2 (soon to be 3) children and played WoW until 3 months ago, after which I started playing DnD in a PnP group. And since that is so much better I'm now trying to find out whether the online game lives up to the real thing.

So... is it possible to point out the server with the oldest and most international players? Or are they all more or less homogeneous?

    Thanks in advance,
    gerluseur

    Default Re:

If Permadeath interests you, our guild has about six to ten EU players from Sweeden, Holland, Germany, and the UK. We also have players from Austrailia and NZ.

Most of our members are adult as we like to have younger players have an adult sponsor.

We play as close to PNP as possible - check out my numerous posts.

    Enjoy the game.

Hmm... not sure. Permadeath in conjunction with an online game is a completely new concept for me. I don't know yet how that works here in DDO...?

Default Some more choices for you...

    Hi there,

Welcome to DDO. As an unconstrained RPer, either of the guilds my two toons belong to would love to have you. They are both on the Sarlona server and are Rest in Pieces and Dedicated Teams.

Both guilds are mature in their outlook and international. Rest in Pieces has a web-site www.ripddo.com which you can check out to see if it's what you are after. We are a fairly small (but growing) guild which is very friendly and welcoming of newbies - and a lot of our players are over 30 and come to this game because of their love of PnP. (For more have a chat to RodWarcle - me - or any other RiP members)

A lot of RiP members have toons in the Dedicated Teams guild because they like to play with a consistent party - they set a time and meet regularly and only play together, each team can have slightly different rules (eg how much role-playing is encouraged etc.) Check out their posts in this forum. I have only just started with them, so I can speak with less authority, but it's already shaping up to be fun.... In fact our team (search for "ala rubra" our team name or Halek our noble leader's forum name) has one opening left if Thursday nights at 9pm EST (soon to be 8) is a convenient time for you... we all rolled new characters and have only had one outing together to date so it wouldn't be hard for you to catch up.

Some dedicated teams may play Permadeath rules, but ours doesn't, and RiP isn't permadeath either. Not that there's anything wrong with PD, in fact, my next toon may be looking for a PD guild - but as my current (long-suffering and all round great people that they are!) guildies would attest I'm not a good enough twitcher yet!

Hope you find what you are looking for,

    TIPKAG.
