    Default Trouble downloading and playing

Why did you make it so complicated to DL/Install the game? Why even use this turbine ****?

Firstly it took 12 hours to DL the game which normally would have been done in two hours.

Then, the TDM keeps ****ing everything up (Had to restart it + comp like 8 times before all the files were DL'd)

Then when I thought that I finally could play, I choose the server etc and launch the game, then I get a Black screen for 0,5 secs and after that the game crashes. Anyone had the same problem?

Ps. Uninstalled for the second time and DL'ing the game again now. Why? I dont even know anymore. Hopefully the game (If I ever get to play it) Isnt as full of **** as this lol.

the first time i downloaded the game i didnt use the TDM and everything worked fine, and it took less time.
i recently tried it on another computer and had the black screen issue, so tried the TDM and that took way too long to bother with.

try downloading the game without the TDM it may help

Ya I did, but when I've installed the game (not using TDM) how do I then Launch it? Seems like everything I do launches the game via the TDM lol

You should have a DDO icon on your desktop if not just go to you start menu and look for Turbine. I launch it without the manager all the time. Even if the manager pops up there should be a "play" option you can click on..

If you're having that much trouble with TDM, don't use it (I don't use it either), though we may be losing the Validate and Repair option.

If you're on XP then DDO installs to the start menu.

If you're on Vista, then you'll need to open My Computer (Start > Computer) and navigate to C:\Program Files\Turbine\DDO Unlimited, find the file dndlauncher.exe and create a shortcut to that file on your desktop (or wherever).

Note: the above is the defualt install location. If you're on x64 then default would be in Program Files (x86).

So, Kald, I've been trying to use that method but it still brings up that crappy TDM and tells me that DDO-Eberron and LoTRO:Moria are available for download. I've downloaded Eberron and I'd just like to play it again but it won't let me. When I click download, it informs me that there is already data in that file, NO DUH!, and that I should choose a new destination. Any advice?

So, after looking around a bit, it would appear that I never installed the TDM (and I begin to see why you're having the issue) to begin with because I don't like tiered downloads. I got the Standard version from here which uses the Pando Media Booster application (which was promptly uninstalled after the game was downloaded).

I'm going to guess that if you try to uninstall TDM at this point it will also uninstall DDO but it might be worth a shot to see if it's possible (Add / Remove Programs > Turbine Download Manager > Uninstall). It would appear that TDM has to be there because of the version that you downloaded / are running (as it's constantly running in the background).

If it's palatable to you (I know you don't want to hear it... I hardly want to type it), you might want to uninstall the current version that you have on the machine and download the full game - it's 3.8ish gigs - from the above link (which doesn't have TDM) and try to run it that way instead. Then, once the install files have been downloaded, burn those off to DVD that way you don't have to do it again.

I was able to delete the TDM and still have DDO run! Thank you very very much Kald! You are awesome!
