Default Questions regarding a Khopesh Build Tempest Ranger

Hey Everyone, I just came back to game after a long break. Tempest Rangers used to be all the rage back when I was playing (before Monks came out) Specifically Dwarven Tempests. I love khopeshs, and they seem to be the flavor of the month... So I was wondering if there is a decent way to do Ranger Tempest with a Khopesh. I picked up Human for the extra feat. Here is my build idea.

    Question
    1)
    a) Would Barbarian be a better choice for Rage and Uncanny Dodge?
    b) Would a 12 Ranger, 6 Fighter, 2 Barbarian be even better than the all the choices... would go kensai for the 6 fighter as well.

    2) Are my feats and enhancements in order? My hp seems really weak, but then again i'm not in any gear.

    3) I like the haste boost in fighter a lot, it should help with damage out put no? Plus 10% base from Tempest, and the BAB is not effected by taking Fighter levels.

Thank you for any who give help.

That's a build that will work well.

Feats seem fine in terms of the ones you've chosen and the order taken.

Fighter is fine to multiclass. Might also consider rogue and/or monk. The BAB with the fighter really won't matter at high levels. Your to-hit will be plenty high whether you lose a BAB or two or not. Rogue at level one will beef up your skills (esp. UMD) and allow you to eventually use heal scrolls. Since you aren't taking feats to boost you healing ability--heal scrolls is a nice add on. Also get sneak attack damage when not having agro. And get a haste boost. Monk gives you a feat (like fighter) and boosts your AC based on WIS bonus. With your stat allocation, that might mean another 3-5 AC geared up--which makes a significant difference on a ranger since you'll be able to get into the meaningful range (high 50s to 60s).
INFERUS SUS Sorcs (Socky, Sockie, Socklin), Rogues (Sockpuppet, Sockum), Clerics (Sockington, Sockase), FVS (Sockle), Intim (Tubesocks), Bards (Sockdolenger, Sockish), Rangers (Sockin, Sockel), Wizzy (Sockut), Kensai (Sockt), Monk (Sockfist), Arty (Sockficer, Sockcraft)

    Feats:

    - Don’t waste your time with Weapon Focus Slashing. If you’re planning on going THF at low levels or wielding a light weapon in your offhand take Toughness instead. This allows you to take the toughness feats earlier in your career. If you plan on dual wielding heavy weapons at low level then take Dodge and Mobility at level 1 and Oversized TWF at level 3.

    - Power Critical is also a useless feat. Get a seeker item/weapon instead. Unlike Power Critical a Seeker item adds DPS as well as accuracy.

    - Monstrous Humanoids are weak foes already. FE: Elemental or Construct will help you out more, especially at the level that you take that Favored Enemy.

    Multiclass options:

    - Barbarian is good for the Running Speed and the Power Attack enhancement. The rage isn’t super important but for 1 minute and 30 seconds it sure is useful in boss fights. However, to splash 1 level of Barb you need to ditch the 2nd level of fighter which gives a +1 STR enhancement.

    - Rogue is good in that it can add 1d6+3 Sneak attack damage and, if you take the rogue level at level 1, you can do the trap thing without too much investment. Rogue also offers the haste boost enhancement. However, since the attack speed changes you lose out on the attack speed benefit of BaB 20. You can get get this back with madstone rage so think hard about this decision.
Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

I realize this is a pretty epic necro, but I was wondering whether it wouldn't be better to go dodge mobility 1st level, then khopesh at 3, then spring attack at 6 for tempest. Not sure TWF really shines till you get your attack bonus high enough, and get tempest, but as soon as you ding 6, i'd think you'd really want to be able to start carving things up.

Also, I'm doing much the same, only dwarf, so that leaves the weapon feat out, but i was wondering whether the fighter levels might be more useful just after tempest I for haste and +1 str earlier, or are the level 11 ranger goodies better earlier?

Nah thats good, it's what the search function is for

It would be better (Imo) to take Exotic: Khopesh at 3, yes.

A lot of times on my Temp Rangers there are times where at levels 1-5 I will go Sword&Board...due to the to-hit issues...depends on the situation. You are correct in that generally your TWF really starts to shine after Tempest I, partly because of the enhancement, but also because of the fact that your ITWF feat kicks in at the same time.

Also, I'm doing much the same, only dwarf, so that leaves the weapon feat out, but i was wondering whether the fighter levels might be more useful just after tempest I for haste and +1 str earlier, or are the level 11 ranger goodies better earlier?
Fighter/Rogue Haste Boost is awesome. I use it as much as I can.

I'd probably take a fighter level at 7, right after I got Tempest, but there are a number of ways you could do it. You can front-load an extra feat that way, probably Toughness or Power Attack. The other thinking on that issue is to take it at 8 or 9 and get IC: Slash at that time.

Power Attack is less useful when your BAB is low, to where you may have trouble hitting things, especially on Elite. Toughness is not essential at those lower levels either, but it's importance rises if you are an inexperienced player that needs the hit points to cover aggro mistakes. However BOTH of those feats (PA and Toughness) are essential feats and eventually you will want both in your build.

Either way you will not be feat starved, and by Level 13-14-15 you'll really be lethal with those dual DAxe's.
