    Default The Blade

There was a 2nd edition kit for the bard, called the Blade, which I had often thought about making something like in 3.5, though never gotten around to it. When I finally did it was for a short story I made.

In any case, I thought about building the Blade in DDO. The Blade as described in 2nd Edition, was a master of performing arts with a weapon. He could put on such displays that if would fascinate those around him, allowing him greater ability to strike them. He could also set up a twirling motion with his blade which would effectively be a wall of death in front of him. I know at least this portion probably couldn't be done.

What I was originally thinking for this character was to go with Bard to Start, and then move into Fighter. I am now thinking instead of Fighter, I may move into Paladin, though that is due to the additional story elements I added in the fictional story. Basically, he had natural ability to do nasty things to the undead. I know a cleric would be better for that, but I am not thinking too much in the way of spells, and more in the way of Smiting Evil.

Any help on how I could effectively build something like this?

I can recall the kit. Though your idea of a bard/pally mix will not work as they have opposing alignment requirements. Paladin is Lawful Good only and Bard is any nonLawful.

I remember the blade, never really used em tho...... or bards for that matter.

sounds more like a two weapon warchanter.

    bard 18/ 2 fighter

take two weapon feats and go warchanter.

your whirling blades go well with an AC song or a damage song.........there is your wall of death.

I thnk you're right about that, though its weird, on... I believe is was DDO Wiki or something like that, there was an article on different classes that go well together multiclass, and one that was mentioned Pally/Bard with a common good characteristic of Charisma. Guess they neglected to mention that they may go good together, but don't actually work together.

It would work in pnp........... if you take the pali levels first then change your alignment and go bard, you get to keep all your pali abilities up till then. I do think you will lose some powers depending on what god you chose and your DM but its doable. In ddo.... not so much.
