Talking Question of Build Reliability/Effectiveness, sort of?

I've been playing this game for about 3-4 weeks now as a Tempest Rogue and now that I have a decent grasp of the game mechanics(and sick of rogue... why oh why did I play this class.)
With that being said, I've always loved Paladins... being able to dish out damage, use supportive skills, and be a tank if the need arises. And that's what I want to be to do. I'm looking to be a Drow but I want to use 1 Handed Axes(I love the look and "feel" of wielding them.)
I've amassed a LARGE amount of Khopesh's from my Rogue and they're pretty good ones too. But they look odd and are just meh to me, but that could just be the halfling look. So how would a Drow/Dwarven Axe user fair in DDO? I've got all +1 Tomes ready to go. Quite a bit of decent gear and Plat to spend If I have to be incredibly gear dependent.

    Wall-O-Text. My Apologies.

    All opinions appreciated. Thank you!

I have a couple pure Paladins and I think that would be a fun build to play! Would you use a shield then?
I say go for it. You wouldn't be limited to dwarven axes, but you would have the option at least.
Personally, I like the pure Pally, but many would say to splash a couple fighter levels in there for the feats.

    cheers!

I was thinking of going TWF Axes since I don't have access to a +3/+4 Tome for DM3/4 but those could always be earned on the paladin way later on. :P
I could do 18/2Fighter for the feat. Hmm. Would it still be viable to go for TWF without Tempest and the free Twf feat?

Tempest gives you TWF and ITWF for free, but costs you dodge, mobility, and spring attack, a net loss of 1 feat unless you take ranger high enough to get GTWF.

Tempest also gives you 10% attack speed and an armor class boost.

Paladins get the zeal spell at level 14, so the attack speed is a wash.

The armor class boost from tempest is less than the armor class boost from paladin's aura, so unless your tempest can count on always having a paladin near to lend aura, the pally comes out ahead.. in a raid situation with a pally the ranger will have more AC. Ranger bark is better than a potion a pally can take, but the ranger can share that, and ranger bark does not max out until level 12 ranger, so a tempest pally wouldn't get that.

Rangers get favored enemeis, pallies get extra powerful against evil outsiders or undead (not both)

Rangers are awesome, tempest I is probably the most powerful level 6 prestige enhancement. But the other classes do catch up, eventually, and it comes down to more of a flavor and style thing.

Oh, I guess some people were talking about a pally 14 ranger 6 tempest + zeal build, not sure if the bonuses stack, but it would be pretty sick if they did.
