So, whats up with Smokey's Guild?

At least I'm not prodding people with Guild Spam, and even worse, unwarranted blind Guild Invites the way your guild does.

There was a time you couldn't zone a new character into the Harbor before a Guild Invite from Smokey's Guild popped up.

I don't join blind group invites, why would I join a guild that has to resort to spamming and blind guild invites?

Perhaps you should get someone to read the posts for you. I said I was answering a question, not asking.

Everytime I would answer something, or when I was trying to read their response, your innate spamming of General chat would fill the chat bar.

By the way, having had the misfortune of being in a PUG with one of your Officers, I'm going to put it out there for you to share with your guild.

If you see someone from Widows of Malkier, Why So Serious? or Avatar, don't invite or try to join one of our LFMs. The second I see a Smokey's Guild tag, it's an instant kick from my party.

For one, I am not part of Smokey's guild, or affiliated in any way with Smokey, his guild, the parents or guardians of Smokey, DDO, Turbine, WoTC, Atari, or the planet earth.


Now that I have that disclosure taken care of.


What is the big deal if he send messages in "general" chat channels every (according to his clock) 5 mins?

Do people actually use general chat channels that oftain? I know for me, and many long term players, we actually don't even have general chat showing.

Now spamming within the "advise" channel is another matter. Ranks right up there with the every 2 min spam in the marketplace "trade" channel I see on various servers.

Now those bashing Smokey for his previous version where "blind invite anyone without a tag" was going on, from what I read in his first post in this thread was that it is not going on this time. If so, great, glad lessons were learnt.


IF you don't like seeing it the message in gen chat.....squelch.

Advertizing there, is better than on the LFM panel (which shouldn't be done, but I still see it everywhere) or doing same in "advise" or "trade" channels.

As for a Recruiting channel.......make it and advertise it on the forums here, then monitor the advise channel and general channels, and when someone askes where he can find out about guilds...advise them to check the forums OR (insert name here) channel for guild recruiting.

Well they have a trade channel. I feel they should have a guild channel.
The help monitor ((DM)) in game told me its not spam if it is posted every 5 min.
And like I said before, some people that are new don't know about guilds or this forum.
Gets the word out about mine. Trust me they want to join...

Its still spammy, just not enough to get you banned.

And why do players like you pass judgement on how people play.
Even if they stink and I think at one time we all stunk, So who are you to
tell them they don't have the right for fellowship or to be in a guild?

You agree with me on the bossy guild part but you cross your own words
saying that bad players don't belong in guilds.
They can improve and when they do how much more they will be thankful your guild accepted them.

There are plenty of guilds that I know aren't power raiders that I'm happy to group with because they are FUN. Your group is completely random, no guarentee or quality or fun. So just like I said, you are the same as a bunch of unguilded pugs, complete unknowns, your name hold no value, except as the source of spam.

I saw and realized that prev. experiances were shared.

I do. Honestly, I don't know why, it's a guilty pleasure of mine. Maybe it's from my days in Tech Support, but I just have this unrelenting need to help out new players who have questions.
For some reason in every MMO I have ever played, I'm always the one who jumps to help new people, be it advice, helping with a quest, gear, or whatever.

I've not only seen the spam, I've seen his Guildies in action. If this was real life, and my health and safety depended on one of his people? I would ask for last rites. And I'm Agnostic!

AS for helping, I've done and do the same on Cannith ATM. But thats only in the harbor as well. In other places I just have my houseT chat, advise, trade (one of these days I'll close that out) and guild in there, so miss all that gen stuff. If really bored, I might flip to gen and see it all, but I doubt it

All guilds have a bad player from time to time.
But you down the whole guild?
Maybe they are high levels but never played the quest your was playing?

Why are you worried about others peoples choices in what guild they join?
